new hood from partznet.com for '95 civic hb is $218.70 plus shipping and painting and installation. I dont see how paint and install is $400.

Is the hood fixable or is it being replaced, I guess the question is how hard did you close it and how bad did you mess it up?

$400 for paint and install on a hood sounds about right from a good body shop. Just had my rear bumper re-finished after some jack-ass hit my parked car in the lot at work and it cost $372.15. A hood is a bigger part but it's easier to take on and off than the bumper but to be honest I think that's the right neighborhood.

You should request a quote with the detailed work breakdown from the body shop to make sure you aren't getting screwed though. I might even request that the payment goes directly to the body shop so it doesn't go into someone's pocket, after all if it's not too bad does it really detract from the looks of a 95 Civic to have a dent in the hood?

it seems like your shop would have insurance for this anyway.

thats what i said arent we insured. but it turns out we are not. it sucks if we mess up a car we pay and if we get hurt on the job we pay, sounds kinda ****ty to me. thanks for the input guys

If the place you work doesn't have insurance (at the very least up to date worker's compensation coverage) to cover any injuries you receive on the job it is not only ****ty it is illegal as hell. Worker's comp is required in most states if you have more than yourself as an employee if I remember right. A violation like that gets an employer shut down if reported and nice hefty fine as well.

i would tell my boss to go screw him self over this one, they have no right to take any money out of your check unless you sign for it, and plus you could legaly get your money back in a court if they tryed to steal money from you over this. the thing is they have to have insurance for things like this and there are laws that proetct you from these mishaps.

well let us know how its going.
