From what I have heard, CF hoods are best latched when hood pins are used. Plus, hood pins look cool IMO. It's a win win situation. The reason they are usually recommended is so the hood doesn't flap up at higher speeds.

I know for a fact that my CF won't fly up without the pins. It is so damn secure. A lot more secure than any CF hood I have seen. BUT I would still use hoodpins. Just because they look good, and you can never be too careful. ;)

I heard we may not need pins for CF hood..like honda prelude, he got a huge hood..so if drive on highway, u can see the CF hood goes up..
but celica got much smaller hood, so it won't be happened on celica as prelude..
and in my opinion, it looks not really good put pins on celica hood..I love keep it clean on hood..

also I seen lots of guys didn't not pins on CF hood...

Hood pins only cost about $30 or so right? If it's that cheap, you might as well get them since you spent over $500 for your CF hood.... Hate for your $500 investment to go "flying" away! :)

not to mention
$280 windshield
$50 hood hinges
$70 in wiper parts (it was raining)
4 hours swapping hood hinges
2 days w/out car cuz nobody had the windshield trim in stock

but yeah... my hood seemed like it was closed and fully latched... but guess what... it wasn't. pins would've prevented it from flying up.
