Would someone be kind enough to relay any information on wether or not any company makes a single front windshield wiper kit to replace the stock dual wipers.
If they even make such a beast -- where could I get it -- hww much -- what accessories does it come with (new front valence new motor - new single arm - etc.)
Also -- If anyone has appempted and successfully completed this mod, please post a pic.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks---

exactly what do you mean

All you have to do is take off the passenger side front windscreen wiper and adjust the driver side one so its starting position is on half way point on the windscreen. 10 minute job at most. Help a friend do it on his 94 Honda Prelude couple of weeks ago. Looks are up to personal tastes, but I don't really like it.

Yes, but the drivers arm is still not long enough to reach all the way over to the passengers side I thought about doing just that -- Also, what could be done with the the control knob left sticking out of the front valence

No one said that this mod is supossed to be more practical than the stock setup. Its purely for looks. I'm un-sure what your talking about for the control knob and front vallance comment.

two words- gay rice

sorry dude, but that is my opinion. but to answer ur question, so it doesn't look like i'm just doggin on ya, but they make kits for those. However it would be kinda hard being that our wipers are mounted on that plastic and the way they are positioned, u would have to do a lot of fabrications to make it work.

The control knob I am referring to is the one that will be left once the passengers side arm is removed - there is actually a knob that the arm mounts on that holds the passengers side on

Ninja,
I don't believe that the mod would be that difficult -- The valence is easily removed and the adjustment of the arm position is fairly simple --- Do you know who makes this kit -- thanks for your opinion, but to each his own

alright well lets see here.... 2 windshield wipers = better visibility in rain and wet conditions... lets get rid of one of those and increase the probability of an accident.... that my friend is rice... sacrificing safety for looks....

to each his own - I am not looking for digs - I am looking for answers - Is it possible the vehicle is not driven in wet conditions -- Is it possible that the vehicle is not driven daily -- Is it possible for someone to answer this simple question without blasting my personal preference -- dont react --- ACT -- all I want is for someone to give me some info --- and do not assume exactly what the purpose of this mod is for

get an MB wiper set up and get it custom installed............but still pointless IMO.

and do not assume exactly what the purpose of this mod is for

what else could it POSSIBLY be for besides looks... weight reduction?! Its obviously for looks. Isn't it obvious based on the reaction you got that the only people looking in your direction will be thinking "one wiper, thats stupid" and possibly laughing at you? Personally, i dunno anyone who sees a car with one wiper and says "yo man, thats fkn cool!!!"

Sorry to flame ya.. but I can't help myself. I really am all for being yourself and doing whatever floats ya boat.. but removing a safety feature is just retarded. It's a personal pet peeve I guess. What a waste... how are you gunna pass inspection?

Oh and I bet removing a wiper will really help the resale on your car!
GOOD LUCK...

If you had an 89 honda accord, this might be acceptable... however, under these circumstances, if you do this to your celica, we may have to kill you...

i dont get why people that do that have to stick the one wiper they have up across the windshield when its off. does it stop like that? why? to get a head start on the next time you use it?

that is one of the funniest rice mods ever. don't see the purpose. even if it NEVER rains where you live. one HUGE wiper looks like **** and is 1000 times more noticeable than 2 regular ones. not noticable good. noticable like, hahaha look at that ridiculous thing. i love mods where people do **** just because they can, not because there's a purpose.

does anyone remember that one car that had this? a while back now. it was all done up with multiple gauge pods on each side of the car (like 10 extra gauges, they were probably clocks or something), and it had a 2 foot rubber antenna, and it had a powder blue painted interior. it also had neons mounted on the dash so you could see them. and multiple, multiple colors. everything had a different color. it is still the ugliest celica i've ever seen. i wish i saved that pic. it was hilarious. oh you may remember it as the celica that had regular fog lights and an extra set where the toyota logo is supposed to be.

urr, one word: MERCEDES !!

their windshieldwipers are great ... no safety-sacrification needed for the looks.

i'd say: call up mercedes ask for a replacement wiper, talk to your toyota dealer/body shop/whatever and get it done ...

lol. my mom has a mercedes with one wiper and its nothing at all like the rice ones people put on their cars. first of all its really big and wide and it looks like it would cost alot to do. its not just a wiper that goes back and forth. it doesnt move the same. its hard to explain.

There's some cars around here like that. I'm not a huge fan of it, but it does catch your attention.

Anyway, it looks to me like they bought a bigger wiper blade and put on it.

Heres a pic of my car i did this a year ago it looks ok...i dont drive this car everyday...just show....i only got into rain once and you can see perfectly...what you do is swap the passengers blade with the drivers (its longer) you can see fine except for a little corner on the drivers side...i wouldnt recommend this if you it your daily driver...peace

Thank you

That is all I wanted --- not you other gentelmen trying to tell me that I am the definition of "rice" --- that term does not even exist to me --- some of you "WILL NEVER UNDERSTAND";
RED vehicle nice ---- BLUE interior nice --- MIX the 2 and I guess this is what you people would call "rice"; RESALE --- by owner -- only to someone who is buying the vehicle for "WHAT IT IS" --- NOT FOR WHAT IT WAS. They can keep all the origional patrs that I have neatly stored away --- and if the buyer wants --- I will personally reinstall them before they leave my driveway.---AS I stated previously -- to each his own --- everyone is an individual --- this is what makes the world a wonderful place -- this is also what makes the world a horrible place (sometimes). Don't get me wrong though I appreciate your abuse --- I LIVE FOR IT.

I must say man you seem like a pretty level headed dood to take all that abuse and continue to stand behind your opinion.

Well a bit off topic but one of my wipers flew off my car tonight in the pouring rain.. maybe I should leave it off and call it a new mod.. hehehe

i think it looks pretty good celicali. i wouldn't do the same thing though. if i'd ever make a windshield-wiper mod , it'll definatelly have to look like the mercedes-type. i mean this up-down-up-down and reverse kind of movement ....
