Whud up people. Im new to the board. I got a 2001 white 5sp Celica. The car is strait. It's real smooth and has a nice interior. I got it for my gf. Its completely stock.

I want to mod the car strickly to make it look and handle better. What do you people suggests should be the first couple mods?

thanks

lower it... get some new wheels but nothing too over huge because if your looking for performance you dont want 19's or anything like that, but also get a nice body kit but again nothing too crazy keep it clean man

welcome to the forums.
rims: no larger than 18's
suspension: eibach springs hotchkis sway bars.
carbon fiber hood would look nice on a white celi IMO

After installing my Tein S-Tech's, I would highly recommend those as well. As far as something different then eibach springs

tein s-tech, koni yellows, trd 3pt rear strut bar, cusco front lower bar, hotchkis sways, beatrush front strut bar.

You put all of these on, and you'll have one sticky celica

my thought are to lower it. Get aftermarket side fenders and rear bumper. The front i want to keep the same but add an attachment lip. And change the headlights.

What aftermarket headlights do you think would flow well on a white car?

if you search under the "Parts Catalog" for the make of your car (GT or GT-S), you could find some parts to look at in the "Exterior/Appearance" catergory.

As for the headlights, some people paint them or get eyebrows for them. Me personally, I'm planning on getting the X-3 Black Projectors. ^_^

Yes, same difference. Get rid of them.

Welcome. as always my advice for modding to new people. DONT LISTEN TO OTHERS ;) please mod how you want and dont just do something becsaue others tell you to. its your money and your car that you have to live with :) ok ill get off my soapbox. Now i wasnt saying dont ask others for help but just dont mod your car in a way just becasue others say its the right way. if you need any help finding parts esp carbon fiber feel free to let me know.

i just did the diy tighten throttle cable. What did you guys use to keep the nut in place? because i notice whenever i start up the car the idle is either above 1k or below 1k rpms. Did you use some type of glue to keep the nut in place?

im in the process of installing white indiglo gauges. I got the white gauges to overlap the factory gauge and needles are working accurate. Now i need run the red power that connects to the inverter kit. I checked the how to area but the pix are no longer working and it say to splice a green wire... Well there are about 8 green wires that i can see. Can someone help me and be specific of which power wire i need to splice my red wire to?

thanks

welcome. from what i read. one of the first mod that people did is painting the plasting insert in the headlight black. i'll do that as soon as i get over the fear of over baking it. :)

When i put in indiglo gauges I ran a wire out all the way to the driver's side headlamp and tapped into the parking lights there. Some have used the taillight fuse from the box at the passengers' feet.

I will warn you though, when i hooked up my indiglos I blew a fuse in the middle of the night on the highway. All i could see was my needles and my headlights, no taillights, or any other interior lighting was working. It was all b/c I overloaded the taillight fuse, i swapped the 10A for a 15A and haven't had the issue since. So if this happens to you, thats your fix for the problem.

Drl vs Auto-ON:

DRL: high beams run during the day
Auto-On: lights come on when ebrake goes down, and it is semi-dark or dark outside.

If you disable them incorrectly, you will get rid of auto-on but lose high beams.

The proper method to disable is to take the small headlamp relay box under the hood and flip it over. The center relay has two thick blue wires. Its important to get the right one. You can imagine the relay as a "T" shape flipped upside down. Your blue wire is the top one on the vertical piece (if it really were a "T" this would be the very bottom of it).

I know this sounds confusing but once you look at it and figure out which wire to cut, your good to go.

Take the thick blue wire, cut it about 6" down. Tape off the end of it that goes into the main harness. From the 3rd relay, closest to battery, find the red wire with silver spots. Its a tight wire, so just melt the insulation instead of cutting it. Put thick blue wire and red/silver spots wire together with solder.

This is part 1.

Part 2 involves removing the ashtray surround area to get to the harness underneath AC controls. Remove shift knob, pry up around window switch to release shifter surround and disconnect wiring from back and set aside. You will see a LOT of plugs here. If you are looking straight on, the plug to disconnect is lower right corner one that is going vertical. Once you get this plug disconnected, look for the yellow wire with green stripe (only one on connector). Cut this wire and tape both ends so they cannot touch and short out.

Put everything back together. Your DRL and auto on are disabled but you still have your high beams and full switch control.

I realize that was a whole lot at once, so if u get confused PM me and I will try to describe it better.
