I decided not to just replace the stock speakers in my `02GT. I`m probably going to upgrade/replace the complete sys instead.
This is what I had in mind that a local shop will install after much shopping around.
Head:
Pioneer "DEH-p80mp"
Speakers:
Pioneer 6.5" component "TS C160R" in front
Pioneer 6.5" 2-way "TS-D160R" in rear
Sub:
Kicker "S10L5"
Amp:
Kicker "KX700.5"
This is a 5 channel amp that will power the whole sys.
Anyone got any opinions on this?
What I`m after is a (relatively) flat, clean response across the full audio spectrum without an unaturally agumented bass.

the priemer series of the deck? personally i think its to fancy....but if you like it go for it. i like the 9300 better, and its cheaper than the 8400 whichever, right now

I just ordered the regular Pioneer 8400mp for 359.95 from autotoys.com, I should be getting it sometime next week... I believe the 840 is 399.95 right now...

if you like the pioneer speakers you should check out mbquart's, they sound better IMO.

I am about to get the DEH-P740MP....I think the 840 IS FREAKING SWEET!! It is just a little steep for me.
Question: When you detach the face on the 840, do the "non-hidden" and "hidden" faces both come off?? I would have to assume so, but I haven't actually had one in hand to check out.

Good question.
Actually, I don`t know as I didn`t take the face plate of while I was checking it out.
However, I also would assume that everything removes as a unit.
The DEH-P840MP is a little expensive but, I figured that If I`m already spending a fair amount of $ for the sys and having it installed, I might as well get something I`m really going to be happy with and not "pinch pennys".
Yeah, thje 840 is basically an expensive toy but, isn`t the Celica also? :D
This is not to say that the 740 isn`t a great unit also!
I`m shure you will like it. :)
