Hi, I just bought an compustar alarm and plan having it installed next week. Its going to be installed my someone at Best Buy and on top of the installation cost, he said that i'm going to need an "immobilizer" which is $60 on top of the $200. Do i need the immobilizer or is he just adding stuff that i don't really need? Also, if anyone lives in or near the long beach, ca area and know's of a really good shop to install my alarm that would be helpful info too. thanks

You don't NEED the immobilizer, but you might as well get one. You still have to pay for installation, so in the end an extra $60 won't hurt that much.

well i have the compustar alarm/w remote start? does that make any difference if i need it or not? and what exactly does it do, the immobilizer, that is?

If you have an immobilizer hooked up to your car, it prevents you from starting up your car unless you deactivate the immobilizer first. Think of it as another theft-deterrent. If someone breaks into your car, theoretically they will not be able to start the car.
