One of the drivers for our team brought his 125cc shifter Kart in and was driving it around this little course at the track today. That thing is nuts! It looks like so much fun. It uses the transmision and clutch and everything from a dirt bike and he said with it geared for top speed it would do almost 130mph. I'm considering selling my bike which has come close to killing me one too manny times and getting at least a quick go kart or maybe even a shifter kart to play around with. He even came in after doing a few laps and did about five doughnuts. It was sweet!

Hey Duncan, my roommate races shifter karts.. 125's. He's doing pretty well actually. I'm sure he'd love to talk your ear off about them if you ever want to.. oh, he's the guy doing the carbon stuff with me too.

Thats cool. I would like to learn more about them and possibly get one. I would still like to help with the fuel doors too If I ever get a break from work.

cool, that would be great. Maybe he could give me some advice on what kind of kart to start with too. I just want to have fun with it and if I want a better kart later I can trade up.

That sounds cool the shifter sounds like the shifter on my Cousin's mini sprint car, the shifter on it was the same as the CBR 600, but the shift pedal was positioned to be a hand lever and the clutch was attached to the shifter.

Yeah, thats how the shifter is on the kart its a lever by your right hand and the clutch is in front of your left hand. I think you only use the clutch to start in first gear and then you don't need it so its kind of out of the way.
