Whats going on people??? I finally got down to Dyno my car. I have a **** load of appearance done do it but as far as performance as of now I only have Borla cat back exhaust, and Blitz SUS intake. Our cars are rated at 180bhp which should be about 140 to the front wheels stock. I ran 168 to the wheel which should put me near 210bhp. What do you guys think. Oh and my air fuel mix was perfect the guy said I ran in fourth gear around 12.7.

I don't know about 210bhp? stock the car puts down about 168 to 160.

Uhhh...I don't think the power loss to the wheels from the crank is 40 hp. That's like saying it loses well over 20%. Stock to the wheels should be about 160 as said earlier.

stock puts down like 160hp to the wheels

I ran 160 to the wheels bone stock (just a K&N air filter), so your numbers are a little off, you didn't gain 20 HP from teh intake and exhaust, more like 8 to 10 hp.

We do not get 140 to the front wheels stock. We get about 157. There's about 14% loss in the drivetrain.
Your 168 run means you gained about 11 hp depending on what your stock numbers would've been.
The 168 seems accurate though a bit low. With exhaust and intake, you should be in the low to mid 170s. Maybe the Blitz/Borla combo isn't that great.
I'm at 169 with just an INJEN CAI (check dyno in dyno section of this site).
Your A:F should change depending on the engine RPM.
At high RPM I believe a little richness is a good thing so your 12.7 may not be that bad.
I'm sure someone will reply if that is incorrect :)

168 isn't bad nothing great but respectable i would say as long as the graph was smooth. 175+ is good i think w/ say I/E/pullies

The more I read about dynos, the more I'm convinced you just can't compare runs from different dynos. Here are some ways dyno results can vary:
1. Location of temperature probe. If the probe is reading hot, you will get an artificially high HP reading, opposite for cold. The probe should ideally be placed in a permanently shaded area but not on a cold wall, at the same level as intakes usually draw their air from.
2. The dyno operator has to enter humidity info EVERY TIME. This could throw results off badly if the dyno shop puts in one humidity value and just leaves it there permanently.
3. Aftermarket wheels/tires or even variations in pressure in your tires
4. SAE correction factors are only accurate over a small range. If you dyno in very hot or cold air, or very high humidity, there is alot of error in the correction factor.

I did it at a place called Bruce's Speed Shop in Rockaway New Jersey. My question to you all is that everyone is saying something different about what the correct percentage loss from the crankshaft. I find it hard to believe that a car would only lose 14%. Most people say around 20-30% actually hits the wheels. To say a bone stock celica with a bhp of 180 has 160 plus going to the wheel just doesnt make sense. What's up???????????

believe it or not man... its only 15% for this FWD car...

After seeing dyno after dyno after dyno with this car from just about every source (car magazines, private owners, aftermarket companies, etc.), you'll believe.;)

have you guys thought he may have an auto?

if he had an auto, there's no way in HELL he gained 20hp from I/E then or dyno 168whp. he'd go from 140 to like 144 or something.
more likely from 130 stock to 140 with I/E.

that blitz intake is a pos......there your problem....get a CAI
Yup, as stated numerous times...stock GT-S will hit 153-157hp to the wheels...
If you are hitting 140hp to the wheels on a stock GT-S, then damnit...head over to the dealership and fix what ever issue your car has, that just isnt realistic unless you have some serious engine problems on a GT-S 6spd.

is yer car auto or 6spd?? check the dyno section of the site and youll see that several GTS have already dynoed.. baseline is around 153-160.. I dont know where you got 20-30%.. hell most AWD drivetrains only lose around 25%

Im sorry its a 6-speed. I hope this helps. Thanks

well FYI then, 15% drivetrain loss is what is the norm for a FWD manual car.. your dyno is right on for a short ram and exhaust.. figure with a CAI you woulda been around 175 or so
