Hey all, I just want some opinions.
I have a 6.5" lcd, but I'm not sure where to mount it.
I could put it in the passenger side sun/visor, or put it in the center consoul storge bay, or cut out the back of the glove box and mount it there.
I want your help, Let me know which place sounds best, or give me another location I hadn't thought of.
Thanks,
TopSpeedCustoms

Damn Yahoo..can't even link it...

Just Copy and Paste into your broswer.
Even though it was off a little to the side, it was great when you got pulled over, because you could position it to where only the passenger sees it. :D Not to mention, it made me feel even more like I was in a cockpit. I don't like those fold out kind, because you can't position them where you want to. And if you stick it in the glovebox or in a seat, only the passenger can enjoy it.
I liked to play a game or two while waiting for peeps and things.
I got tons of compliments on it, welps until some asswipe broke into my car and ripped it out. :(

Hey ArchangelX, that looks really sweet. I was wondering how you ran the sound through the sound system since you had the stock head unit. The stock doesn't have an aux input does it? I wanna get an LCD screen and want to run the sound through the stock system instead of buying a new costly headunit. I also don't want to run an FM modulator or have an LCD screen with built in speakers.

DOH!! Man..I gotta say this again..heh?
TopSpeed..I'm sorry my man...I was doing this for gts24.
Could you link pics of your Lcd setup?
Arch,
Saw you posted a link in that thread..... the link isn't working. I'd love to see your setup. If you could please repost or send me a link to your pics.
thanks

Anyways, I just figured you had been able to see the pics..lol.
Oh..and your link doesn't work..mwhahahaha!!! :fawk: :gap:
dodiet, As for sound..I was going with the ghetto route with just a CD to Tape Converter. It worked fine, and movies sounded simply AWESOME in the CAR!!
Blade 2 and Mission Impossible 2 were badazz..heh.
Anyways...that was the ghetto rig..but I was going to add an auxilary to the stock head unit. It's easy. You can buy a small cable that adds to it.
Fourgig, from Praxis Racing, had one I believe..might want to check with him.
A search on the internet should provide something for it...
I've already decided I'm going to buy another LCD...this time a 6-8 inch probably, get it repainted, and re-install it in the same spot.
Lataz, and g'luck!

I was gonna go that route for my car computer, but decided, that, well, a flip out was a better option.
The picture quality kicks ass, even during the day, and it goes away when i push a button :)

Are you talking about an in-dash LCD?
I thought about that..but the thing doesn't move to the side...so you'll have to crain your neck into weird positions just to watch it.

I like this a lot...when it's in the middle, it looks nice and clean. I can see how it might be a pain though...

Hey guys.
I did a search and found this thread and pm'd archangelX....
thanks for the update!
Anyways I was thinking about doing a sort of custom thing with a 5.6 or 6.4 molded into the same area that the JDM Celica has an LCD.
Do you guys think that will work ok ? or will the screen angles suck in the car?
I am thinking about sending my stock console and an lcd to that John Lau guy with Celica garage...... http://www.newcelica.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=36509&highlight=JohnLau%40postmark.net
Will this be functional?? (viewable from most of the car?)

Dude..I think it would look sweet..
You know what you should do though..see about ording that part of the console..it can't be that much..and you'll have a pre-built hole that you can modify to fit...
But whatever works..
I don't think it would be a problem at all IF you can figure out a way so that the LCD display can kinda tilt to the left or right or even up and down..
Otherwise..you're gonna have some pretty bad GLARE from the sunroof when it's open.
I know I had some serious glare on mine, but I could always tilt it downwards to fix that...
Oh...and thanks for the compliment!
I can't wait to get it replaced!!
