View Full Version : HIN who's registered?

I was just wondering who all has registered. I'm still debating wether or not I should. I don't see any point the way my car is now, but I don't know if I'll be able to spend the money to do much more to it by august. I was wondering if maybe I got a kit once it is lowered if I could get by with the stock wheels for now. What do you all think? By the way what would you think of the imported Blitz front with the Kaminari sides and rear? I was also considering the RMM front lip. Anyone heard about the fit of either? Thanks!

I am waiting till July to decide, I don't want to go unless I have more mods on my car, So I will decide which todo by then, either the body kit, trunk rebuild and TV's PS2, or save the money.

I think this calls for an FTS! Just kidding, but seriously I'm disapointed that it looks like Phase Seven won't be representing at HIN. I was really looking forward to it. That was my inspiration to get a bunch of stuff done to my car before August too. I think you Celica Haters, I won't name any names Cody and Barry(jk), need to get Toyota to fix your cars and keap them at least through HIN.

You know HIN is a show about who spent more, looking at the score card it shows that they look at the lighting you have the entertianment (TV's video game system, DVD) I would rather show somewhere that looks at originality how clean the car is, and that stuff, I think I would rather work torawds NOPI in September, when you start having to put lights in the car you can get expensive and can even start drawing the RICE line, although I would like to get some under body Neon's I'm afraid that no matter what I do I won't get a second look at HIN. I think I would rather just spectate the show.

I wouldn't go to actually compete, but it would just be cool to have the club there. by the way Mark have you heard of any shows at US Play? Or any other ones for that matter?

Just the one next week at Andretti eveyone still going to that one, I may call MSP this week and see if they have anything coming up last time I talked to them they weren't sure when their next show will be

Oh and I agree it would be cool to have the whole club there maybe I should rethink going now

I can't make the show at Andretti. I'll be out of town. I am going to quit my job and look for another one fairly soon, so I will hopefully have more time to hang out with the club and work on my car.
If we can talk enough people into going to HIN it would be awesome. It would have to be more than two or three cars though wouldn't it? If we are going to do it I will do whatever it takes to get my car a lot farther from stock.

i'll still go to HIN if i dont get the WRX by then. i need to go ahead and decide though, it is supposed to sell out fast. maybe if i do get the WRX i'll enter it anyways, even though i'll probably only have an exhaust and bov or something like that.
cbr600drm
05-12-2002, 11:54 AM
That would still be cool. Is the bolt pattern and offset for the wheels different on the WRX? I was just wondering if your wheels would fit it. I would imagine it is different but I don't think I've ever heard. I still think it will be a shame to get rid of you Celica but I can see why you are getting frustrated with it. Hopefully you can get all the problems sorted out for a while before you get a WRX.

Let's decide I think I will go, and I will have some more mods by then, Either the trunk redone or Body kit and with both I will have a CAI and Under body neon's, BTW will I be able to bring my car home on Saturday night because we are leaving for Las Vegas on that Sunday. That's my 21st B'day present, my parents are taking me to LV, it's going to be great,

duncan, me and barry were talking about the rim situation on the wrx too the other day. the bolt pattern lines up alright i think but the problem comes into offset. supposively i'll look like a mexican with the wheels sticking way out to this sides if i put my wheels on there now. haha. i do have a few things i can throw in there that will get it "not stock" right away though, the shift light, power meter, and alpine cd player. and hopefully i'll have enough for a bov the day i get it too, i've been wanting to have a car with that sound for so long :).
2kgtx
05-12-2002, 08:40 PM
I'm thinking of saving my money not do any mods this summer, pay the car off, then next year buy the turbo, I want that sound to, Not to mention I would no longer just look fast.
skatamatic
05-12-2002, 09:03 PM
that would be awesome to get a turbo, i just cant afford to put that much money into mine and take all the risks involved in turboing a n/a car. but if you've got the money, i say go for it. just watch out for me and barry in our wrx's though :) (especially him since he's just going the sleeper route right away, i however wanna do a bit of cosmetic stuff to it too).
2kgtx
05-12-2002, 09:07 PM
ewww, no apperance mods on a WRX some one needs to slap Barry, I am not sure he would be allowed at any Phase seven events with it, Stock those things look like they fell out of an ugly tree and hit evey branch on the way down.

haha..they are a bit strange looking in stock form but they have grown on me a bit. i wont say anything though cuz i know he'll be flying by all of us right away with that vishnu stage 0 which puts gives you 41 hp for about $1000. i wanna do the morette headlight conversion first and maybe lower it and put some rims on it too, but then it's gonna be lots of performance stuff for a while. then if i get it as quick as i'd like i'll go on and get a kit, wing, etc.

Wow 41 Hp for a grand that is amazing, is Barry defintly getting one, what is he doing with his celi.

That would be awesome to go to Vegas for your 21st bday. I have only been once, but I really want to go again. When I got back I was determined for the next month that I was going to move there.
Cody, yeah I was thinking that being AWD the offset would be different. I know that rear wheel drive cars usually have more negative offset. I am thinking I will just do cosmetic stuff for the near future on my car. I probably will not autocross it much either. I just want it to look good be a little faster and stay reliable and under warranty. I'm going to do the suspension stuff, wheels, kit, probably intake and then smaller cosmetic stuff. Oh and by the way Cody if or when you decide to sell your car I will probably be interested in buying your CF hood. I think since I'm about to quit my job the chance of me making a hood is gone. I still want to get the scoop done and maybe a few other small things. That also reminds me I need to get your scoop back to you. Its just been sitting waiting to be used to make a template for the mounting studs. Don't let me forget whenever you need it I'll bring it back.
skatamatic
05-13-2002, 08:20 AM
hey duncan, john also expressed interest in the hood but if he doesn't end up taking it it's yours. also, i'd probably prefer to just let it go to whoever can definately give me the money when i'm ready to get rid of it. or yall can fight or something...haha.

I'll kick his ass! jk I haven't really decided if I want that look or not. I was wondering what it would look like if I painted the sides and left the center part going into the scoop in carbon. I don't know I'll have to decide what I want before I can say for sure that I'd want it when you sell it.

I would like to keep my car, but I'm tired of having to take it to the dealer to get things fixed. cd player, belt tensioner, maf sensor, and now a wierd squealing noise from the front right wheel on sharp turns. I have to take it up to the dealership next week so they can check out some other stuff. They didn't tell me everything that is wrong with my car, but he said that I would have to leave it there for atleast a day or more. Good thing it's covered under warranty.
I'm going to try and wait until the '03 wrx comes out before I sell the Celica.
Mark, it doesn't matter what the car looks like when the only thing people will see is the tailights.:burnout:

05-13-2002, 12:16 PM
do you think the noise has anything to do with hitting that curb a while back? At least its under warranty. The way I look at it is any car that you are going to drive hard, especially autocrossing and stuff like that is going to need little things fixed on it from time to time. I've never heard much about the reliability of the WRX but I do no that the AWD is more likely to be problematic if it is driven like I know any of us would drive it.

The noise came from the other side of the car. It made this same noise a couple of times when I first got my car and then it stopped doing it for like 7-8 months, then on Saturday it did it again. The problem is all the stuff that has been or needs to be fixed isn't from driving hard.
Also I don't know if anybody has heard the noise my passenger side window makes. Sometimes it does this random buzzing noise when I put the window up. Hasn't done it in a while though.

PS remember Duncan I have a CF hood scoop for you.

05-13-2002, 02:54 PM
That is sweet! I won't be buying it any time soon though. If I had that kind of money I would buy a bunch of less expensive cars($80,000-$200,000 range) and drive a different one every day. Are you ready to get rid of the scoop already? I wasn't sure if you were going to use it until your raised one gets there. If so how much do you want for it? I might be able to get it when I get back(I leave town tomorrow again).

I already paid for the c1 scoop so I am hoping it won't take too long to get here. It is alot smaller than a hood after all. Get in touch with me when you get back from your trip. I saw that you are interested in a whole hood in which case you may not want just a scoop. You can at least put it on and see what it looks like. Might look pretty cool. Have a safe trip and call me when you get back.
PS Having a McLaren puts you in a whole different catagory of sports car. And having a car with a Lemans Championship under it's belt equals invincible bragging rights. "Is that so, well my car won Lemans in 2001"...........*silence*

i'll also take a mclaren when i come acoss a good million dollars or so. i think i'll just have to settle for a 4 door family sedan instead (but when i get done with it, it should only be about 1.5 seconds slower than a mclaren in 0-60 though. for those who don't believe that check out cobb tuning or vishnu's website, it's possible for under $5000). and about the wrx reliability, i've been doing lots of research all over their forums and there's hardly any talk of lots of bad stuff happening. there are a few first year flaws (ABS likes to come on when you are on gravel roads sometimes) but i haven't seen near as many problems with those as people have been posting about GTS's. i just hope i dont get another cursed car that's gonna fall apart on me. we'll see soon...
