On my GTS, I have a VIP security system. My question is, is there a different one that Toyota puts on our cars. I didnt like having to spend another 550 on an OEM system when I already had a Clifford bought for the car.

Go with the aftermarket alarm unless you like spending a big hunk of cash for the dealer alarm. I picked up a viper alarm for 275 the next day I purchased my car. 550 for a dealer alarm is such a rip, although it will guarantee a lower insurance rate, but that's true for your Clifford too.

Nope, just the VIP RS3200 system (as far as I know), in the US.
I felt that it was a rip off and had a Python installed in my GT.

about the insurance rate, not every time, sometimes ins. companies assume the car has a "security system" and dont reduce the rate....

In NY state it is a either a 5, 10 or 15% discount on comprehensive. The amount depends on if the alarm is passive or active. If you have a security system you should mention it to your insurance company since that is a decent discount. Also be sure to tell them that your alarm is passive, even if you install it as active.
Passive (for anyone who doesn't know) means that the system activates itself after a delay. Active means you have to actually push a button to arm the system.

Don't get me started on this. I'm still pissed about it, and it was 2 years ago. I ordered a GTS with cloth interior and a factory installed alarm. When I showed up to get it, it had leather and no alarm, but I was told to come back and they would install one. I got a CheckMate alarm, don't remember the model number, but it works just fine.
