I hear a light, occasional squeal coming from underneath the hood of my car when the A/C is running. If I turn the A/C off, the sounds stops, but it doesn't always make the squeal when the A/C is running. I had my serpentine belt replaced last year and the drive belt tensioner replaced less than a month ago. The sound I hear is very similar to the squeal my serpentine belt made when I had to replace it. I have a 2000 GT-S. What could this be?

Does it increase when you raise rpm? If you lube the belt and the noise is still there and it does increase with rpm it's probably your compressor.

Bad bearings on your compressor or your magnetic clutch is going.
Gatorback time..
If you lube the belt :wtf:

Squealing = Bad Belt (Get a gatorback)
Schreeching = Bad AC clutch.

I had a similar problem but only when the engine was cold in the morning.
The squealing stopped after the engine and serp belt warmed up. I'm assuming a stretched belt contracts and tightens when its heated. It would happen with A/C on or off. I changed the belt a couple of weeks ago
and the squealing stopped.

Is it me or does running the a/c while maintaining a constant speed cause jerks and irregular engine speed when the compressor clicks on and off...Y im asking is because my girl friend drives me nuts because she thinks there is something wrong with the car. I know its the a/c cause it doesnt do this when its off. Have any of you had a similar problem..Feels like youre gently tapping the throttle.
Normal... (it's more noticeable on a 4 cyl;))
But, if it is overfilled... it'll actually cause an almost 500 rpm drop when it kicks out.
