Ok after a hard drive last night with heaps of corners at full throttle my steering feels very loose. Like when cornering i have to turn the wheel more to get it to turn.

Any reason why this is so?

Note: Had my regular service couple weeks back. Mechanic told me my power steering fluid was dirty.

Also, i remember someone telling me taking corners with the foot to the floor was bad? Like it negatively affected my suspension or steering system in some way? Can anyone confirm or deny this? I find it hard to believe since isn't that how auto- xers take corners?

It's called understeer.

No genius. Read the post. AFTER a hard drive the steering feels loose.

Has anyone got a more helpful reply?

Anthy: yeah man lol

Loose feeling in the steering could be caused by one of the following problems:

1. Aligment out of spec (usually toe out of whack)
2. Slop in the steering rack bushings
3. Worn tie rod ends
4. Worn upper or lower ball joints
5. Slop in control arm bushings

Being in Australia, I would highly recommend Whiteline products. I have their "anti-lift kit", which is an offset bushing that goes in the rear position of the front control arms.

Thanks a lot man.

Thing is, it all happened AFTER the drive.

I'm guessing i just exacerbated the problem.

So would a power steering fluid flush make any diff?

Cos all those above mentioned problems cost a lot to fix?

it feels loose, or like the steering wheel has no resistance?

I recently flushed mine and it has gotten a bit stiffer to turn.
