I plan on installing a light with a placard next to it stating something like "VVTL-I activated, hold on" LOL or something like this anyways. has anyone done this yet? I believe all i need to do is connect the light to the wire that trips the vvtl-i solenoid on the cylinder head. If it looks lame or cheezy than I won't do it but It sounded kinda cool when i thought of it.

my suggestion to you is to download the electrical manual off the TSB pages and find any wire that says VVTL-i

do you think its a dumb idea or kinda cool? I thought it would be another gadget to look at like a get ready to shift soon light or somethin.

i think its kinda cool.. its just something you do for yourself when you're bored... you dont really make a big deal out of it though... and lastly but most importantly make sure you do it yourself... if you're gonna pay someone to do it of course then you've defeated the purpose and can be classified in the "riceboy like" category..lol

i again tried finding the correct wires on the diagram and have had no luck... I dont know what the diagram is callin it, i was lookin for somethin like vvtl-i or cam switch or anything like that. I believe i know which connector it is by lookin at it, but theres 2 wires on it, my guess would be the blue wire with the white stripe as positive and blue with black stripe as negative to that solenoid under the drivers side end of the second head cover.

i was thinking about this as well. I was thinking about a shift light that turns green at 6K then red where you want to shift.

lol-i think this is funny-but whatever floats you boat man....look for the "lift" solenoid on the engine-the vvtl-i wire is the solid grey one coming out of the solenoid (really going to it i guess, but whatever)

There are two wires, OVL+ and OVL-, that operate the oil control valve. These are both on the Engine Control Module. One is connector E4, pin 7, OVL+, Blue w/ white stripe, the other is connector E4, pin 6, OVL-, Blue w/ Black stripe.

Please be aware that the Toyota engineers may have planned on an expected load, from the oil control valve. The additional load, from a lamp may induce a failure in the ECM. It is possible to use a buffer/driver to isolate any new, additional load from the ECM to prevent this type of failure.

FYI, if a lamp is added to observe this function, please devote all attention and concentration to this lamp, to the exclusion of all other distractions.

If you do figure it out, post an install, sounds pretty cool to me.
