Here's a real newbie question.
Besides the usual oil change, what other maintenence is absolutely necessary at 15,000 miles?
My dealer has some combo package of a bunch of stuff that they will do at 15,000 miles but I want to know only what is absolutely necessary so that I don't spend money on extraneous maintenence. I have an auto GT 00.

Assuming you want to take the best possible care of your vehicle you should at least perform the required minimum listed in the maintenance guide that came with your car - as a rule of thumb though here is what I would do:
Oil & Filter change
Check & replace air filter if necessary
Rotate and balance tires
Check transmission fluid - as long as its still a nice clean red and doesnt smell burnt or look overly brown it should be fine - if its not you might want to change it.
Check and top off all fluids
check all brakes - I forget if teh GT has read drums or not - if its got discs just check em - if they are drums clean and adjust if you get more than 4 or 5 clicks when you lift up on your e-brake handle.
That and a generaly thorough inspection of belts and all engine and suspension components to look for potential problems that might be showing up.
To be honest all that I I would expect you to have to do is oil and filter, rotate and balance and check and top off fluids.
BTW - if you are worried about a dealer ripping you off when you get your car serviced mark the INSIDE of one tire with chalk and scratch the paint on your oil filter. If the chalked tire is on a new wheel and the filter has been replaced chances are the dealer did everything they should. I'd still double check all fluid levels and keep an eye out for leaks and stuff tho - if you take care of your car and keep an eye on it it will take care of you :) don't trust it all to the guys at the dealer.

True - and I betcha every dang one of us that reads this board is probably severe ;). I mean sure I know in my HEAD that the car will run under 4K RPM - but wheres the fun in that?
