Question on purchasing monitors.

I want to do the whole dvd/monitor thing. But I want to purchase them seperately as I can afford them. Ebay has a 7" monitor that I can pickup for $300. Now do the monitors require audio out puts to run through the speakers or is that handled all by the dvd unit. Stupid wuestion I bet, but I have to ask. TIA.

The DVD unit will handle all of the speakers. The only job of the monitor is to show the picture.
