My Dad hasn't driven the car in about 2 years. Cranked over every other month or so though. We used to show it all the time when I was younger... but he got tired of that.

It needed some work. New steering box, new radiator, all new ball joints, new brakes, oil change, and brake fluid change. My Dad has been so damn busy with his business lately he hasn't had time to even put some time into it. My sister, him and I have been workin on it for the last couple nights...

very nice! BTW my dad just wanted something he can drive during the sumer that was fully restored, he doesnt really care about showing it but ill take it to some shows.

The guy that sold it to us had just bought an antique vette. Thats why he was selling. My dad wanted either a vette or a mustang but both my parents like the mustangs more i guess. Personally idk if would take either, idk bout where u live but at the local shows near me they get packed with hundreds of vettes and mustangs.... id rather have an old 30's hot rod show car with the lowered roof, scuicide doors, and shaved handles.

But a very nice car u got there  Im waiting on my dad to email me some pics of the car.

Unlike u guys that have been workin on the car, my dad bought it with the intentions of the car not needing work cause he doesnt have any extra time... always working.

ya u wanna hear a crazy story, our friend has the 57 chevy that his parents owned that he learned how to drive in, etc.... original owner (from his father to him obviously)... he has a 87 vette engine dropped into it. This was the friend that helped my dad search for the right mustang, he used to restore cars all the time when he was younger. Right now in his garage he has what he says is his last project (kinda sad to hear that) which is a 50's hot rod truck with lowered roof, shaved handles, all hand made wood dash... this guy goes all out!

Ya speakin of the old modified hot rods... that is my new love, lol... i was always into the fastbacks, mach1's, shelbys, boss, etc... but over the past couple years have really been gettin into those.

Heres a couple more shots that I took of that car when i was in vegas (the pic i posted earlier was from their site):

im working on the pics from vegas right now... uploading as we speak, ill post the thread for the pics of all the cars later

Have any pics of ur dads 32' ford?

That is a nice ride Greg, but that whole car is a Prefabed car. There doesn't look like anything on there is orig. There was this guy I use to work with that had a hot rod built for him. It was sweet, but he had it for a few months then he sold it because he spent $50k on it and most of the time it would be sitting in the garage because of you the weather. So he sold it for $60k and bought a Bike.

I would love to have a 55-56 Chevy Bel-Air. With nice chrome wheels. I saw one for sale in Auto Trader yesterday for $16k it I hade that much money I would go and buy it.

ya our friends 57 chevy is the same teal color that the vette above is. I drove that car one time and so u drive it and it feels like ur driving a boat right... well once u step down on the pedal that vette swapped engine just pulls so hard!

I actually think that hot rod was actually built by boyd coddington and they usually use something original on their cars be it the shell structure or a frame, etc.

Another story of antiques... cars without power steering... u get quite the work out, my friend has a 65' mustang and those ones up until i think 66 or 67 didnt come with power steering... i drove his car and all i can say is ur arms will be sore after a days worth of driving!

My dad spent the last two nights waxing the car. Its amazing... the only time I've ever seen paint shine like that was on a guys Ferrari that lives near me...

There is a Corvette/Ferrari show in October locally. My Dad said he would let me take it to the show  There is a local Corvette club around here and another guy has a 58... he always wins the (local) shows for Classic corvette. His car doesn't have shit on my Dad's car... it's going to be great.

The nicest vette that ive seen of ur dads body style was one that was red, and internally it had everythng off of a new zo6 vette, engine wheels, brakes, etc. So it was a new zo6 vette but the body shell structure of a 50's vette... it was damn sexy!

You don't necessarily understand the concept of a classic car, do you Greg?

I hate to break it to you, but a bone stock classic vette will bring more than any retarded modded vette will. It's not the point of "fabricating" new styles and ideas into them... if thats what you're into, thats cool. It's more the idea of it being the way it was... 50+ years ago. I have alot more respect for a classic car left the way it was... especially over such a long period of time. Or rebuilt back to the way they were.

I just personally feel that a classic car should be just that, classic.

saw what you want about me not know the "concept" of a classic car, lol
But if I owned an old mustang, it would stay bonestock, made to the original specs printed into its vin number. The thing you dont understand is i like both custom antiques as well as stock antiques that look like they came from the factory and still look new.

If i had gotten my hands on an old hot rod, then i would go all out custom with it. If i had gotten my hands on an old fast back, a mach1, or a boss, it would stay all original looking with everything matching to its coding.

Y do you think we r doing nothing to that mustang my dad just bought, nothing except for a disc brake conversion for safety.

so before u start making accusations about ones opinions on a "classic car", how bout u think before u speak (in this case type)

the only reason i am wanting to switchpossibly to a sri is due to the horrendous amounts of rain here in FL! Go ask hombrelass(spelling) why he has a sri... cause the rain here in fl sucks and too many people hydrolock their celicas. I am either just welding the fins within the intake i have to prevent any future cel's arrising even though there r none present as of right now, or switching to a sri and welding the fins within the intake.

and as for my 5 dollars comment on he 30 year old celica, it is nice, i would take it, but all i got to throw out of my pocket right now is 5 bucks.

and who cares if i accidentally posted in the performance section, accidents do happen, thats y i asked for someone to move it to the correct thread.

but plz go on if u would like, it truly does amuse me how u can go so far off topic of ur thread even though it does involve my name. now if ud plz post some pics of ur dads ford, it would be appreciated and on topic!

and as for my car being an auto... i dont care, lol, its not like the celicas r fast anyways. BTW, that dig u made at me about my car being auto was so mean :(! Too bad an the auto celica is more expensive and a better resale value to begin with. So you can take ur black spoiler and shove it up ur white celicas ass, lol. Driving around with a different color big spoiler without ur car being two tone, or kitted is like driving around with an unpainted kit....or better yet, like 140gt's celica when his kit was blue, lol.

as for my next car one day in the far future... it will be manual, but at least come with some stock power within the car.

Actually, I was asking about rotchcrocket04's Dad's DD. But, that's OK.

he always leases his cars, like every two years he buys the lease, sells it privately and gets a new lease on a new car... this is his second es300... he gets bored real easily of his cars. He has always liked that lexus sportscar that is currently out but its not pratical right now cause he is working, and couldnt drive that during the winter. And he doesnt want to get a beater for the winter because it will look bad for business since he has to sometimes drive possible customers to different open houses that he is selling. With real estate, its all about professionalism and it goes all the way to how u look and what u drive, etc.

since i have owned my car in 2001 he has gone from a lexus rx300, to a acura mdx, to a lexus es330 in a light creme color, and this past 2005 he got a dark bluish/black es330.... and i think he is starting to get bored, lol. He puts terrible mileage on his cars due to his job. The car which was new has i think the same mileage as mine if not more!

He puts terrible mileage on his cars due to his job. That would do it. Actually, I'm a bit different than the way my dad was... he always traded in @ 60K, or thereabouts... then I started getting his hand-me-downs.

This is definitely OT, but, I was thinking about your SRI thread.... & it came to me what "bothered" or "bugged" me about it... it's a very pervasive thing... so you know it isn't just you in particular.... society... my workplace.. etc. can all do the same thing. No one wants to make a real decision or take responsibility.... everything done by consensus or committee..... etc.

Here's a great lesson in life that will serve you well, Greg. Using your thread as an example.... instead... you should gain essential information - you should know by now from this forum all the advantages and disadvatages of SRI/CAI - and then make an informed decision based upon the facts as you know them at the time. YOU then, almost, become the master of YOUR destiny... whatever the outcome.... no one can fault you for making a decision, based upon the available facts at the time. If they do, too bad. At least you made a decision. You should definitely solicit information for things you don't know. You don't need me or any other member to tell you that you should or shouldn't do x, y, or z..... & you don't need to get a consensus from "the group"... get the facts (or in some cases opinions - but, I prefer verifiable/provable facts)... make a decision.... and live with the consequences of that decision... good, bad, or indifferent. You seem to be able to do it for body work... apply it to other things, as well. But, she told me she was on the pill....... but, the guys @ NewCelica said it was OK to leave my CAI on & I hydrolocked.... but, the broker told me it was a good investment.... eh... :bs:

It isn't just you.... and I apologize for sorta singling you out.... I see this at work so often... things get mired... everyone afraid to make a decision...... nothing changes... everything is someone else's fault... not making a decision - is a decision. I don't like to be wrong, either... but, I'm human & it comes with the territory. Live, learn, grow :) Even @ my age :chuckles: I heard a great quote on a TV show the other night... "It's not what you do, it's what you get done."

So, if I see another "Should I" thread outta you.... be prepared for me to :eslap: ya :gap:
