View Full Version : Is there a fuel cutoff after you hit lift?

I noticed awhile ago that when I am driving my GT-S and I hit lift, sometimes my car will actually bog down or hesitate really bad after around 7000 rpms. I can only hit lift while I'm in second gear after just starting off. It only hits around 6500 rpms as it should, but it seems that once I get to 7000 rpms I get that bogging. Really this only makes lift fun for about 1 second since it's nothing to hit 7000 rpms once you've hit lift.

I talked to the local Toyota guy who said that it was a fuel cutoff that was keeping me from hitting higher rpms on purpose. Now, I know very little about cars, but to me this didn't sound too honest. Is it really possible that my car has lift, which only kicks in around 6500 rpms, but then the car has a fuel cutoff just above that rpm range? That seems a bit weird to me.

Can you smart people educate me a little on this. Was he telling me the truth, or is my car not acting as it should?

Make sure your car is fully warm and your lift bolts are intact.

Yeah, you probably aren't letting it warm up enough.. mine does the same thing when I forget my engine isn't warm lmao..

if your lift bolts are damaged or broken it would explain the loss of lift at 7000. You have to have 2 clicks above dead cold on engine temp though to keep the stock ecu from cutting the rev limiter at 7000. Its done as a safety measure since your motor isn't warmed up yet...so if it does it only when you start off from a dead cold sit then thats probably it, but if it is warmed up i would look at the lift bolts for damage.
