Rob, you've got a c2 kit on your celly but you've never changed your oil before?

I guess now is a good time as any to start
where do you put your used oil?
pour it on somebody's lawn that you do not like.

no dont really, the EPA would have a ****fit over that. Advance, Napa, Oreilly, and most lube shops should take it off your hands up to 6 qts no questions asked.

I brought it to hmmmm in canada we have a store called Canadian Tire, kind of like a big Napa. Like a walmart but geared more towards automotive. Almost like a home depot but not quite. They take used oil :D

heh yeah, I've installed all my mods except the turbo, clutch and flywheel.

:D

You can usually get an oil change done for LESS than what you'd spend doing it. This is because oil changes are so common a shop can charge les and still make money considering they get their oil and filters for wholesale price.

incorrect, they get them at jobber cost compaired to where they buy it from, if they buy the filter from say advanced, then advanced gets it at jobber compaired to what a wharehouse pays for it, and the wharehouse is what gets it at "original cost" this is why filters cost $5+ as opposed to the $.75 it takes to make it.

also, most shops lose money on oil changes. (also base oil changes consist of the worst kind of oil and cheapest oil filter) the reason they cost so little is to get you in the door so when they find problems with your car (air filter, pcv, leaky gaskets, rust, etc.) they will let you know and hopefully since the care is there they will be doing work that they will make money off of. this is also why most places advertise a "free inspection with oil change".

at least thats how the shop worked that i used to work at. and i know thats how the stores work from my experiance working in parts stores.

I cannot argue with you the price the places pay for their own oil because I just dont know and apparently you have an idea, but technically it still is cheaper to get an oil change done than to do it yourself these days. Now, true many places use crap oil. but some places, such as where I used to get my oil changed when I wwas busy working, use Mobil 1 Synthetic and I paid 14.99. Now you are also right on them trying to hit you with 3,000 other problems to fix afterwards. I just say ok, thanks and I am on my way.

All in all, I think one should always do their own oil changes and it is not a rocket science.

I've always wondered... How would you go about changing from Non-Synthetic oil to Full Synthetic? This has nothing to do with me or my car so don't worry, I'm not abusing the Celi.

do an oil change but as opposed to putting in non-synth, put in synth. very simple : )

some people might say that this is not the case and mention things like molecules bondings and the engine "getting accustomed to one oil". with todays metalergy this again is not true.

some will also say it causes leaks, this too is untrue. the synthetic oil molecule is much smaller than non synthetic, so it won't cause leaks, it will just show ones that are already there more readily.

damn thats exspensive for n oil filter $4.28 @ toyota or 3$ somethin at autozone

and add to other post about doing it your self you dont have to worry about the oil guys forgetting to tighten the oil plug and losing all your oil or screwing something else up and having your engine light come on
