View Full Version : How long is your S2000 Antenna Thread?

I'm not sure if I bought a non-OEM version of the S2000 antenna, but the length of the screw part is only about 1/2". When I pulled off the original Celica antenna it was atleast 1 1/4" long.

Too many people have been unscrewing the antenna off my car and now it does not catch the thread (because its stripped).

Do they sell s2000 antennas that are as long as the original Celica antenna?

Mine was that short, too ... in fact I think it's less than half an inch. And I bought mine straight from the dealer. I believe all OEM S2000 antennas are all the same length (if you were talking about the metal part that threads into the base).

i bought my S2000 antenna on ebay which stated it was a JDM model. Found out, it was a couple threads too short. Went to a honda dealership and bought one there and luckily, the antenna fit nicely.
does anyone know how the 350z antenna fits on our cars?

Why are people unscrewing your antenna/ your friends? or people stealing it?

1. Get an exacto knife slice the square metal base piece carefully under the S2000 antenna.
2. Once you've sliced those 4 sections pull out the S2000 rubber sleeve carefully from the metal base of the thread. You will no longer need it later.
3. Once you've pulled out the old metal threaded base a rubber shaft with metal coils around it should come out with it as well. These coils help you get the strong reception which makes the antenna also shorter and sleeker. The outside rubber is just there to reinforce it upright in a standing position.
4. With that piece removed snip the square base with the short threads off but leave a coiled section bare for later.
5. Now you have an opened bare S2000 antenna sleeve with no mounting threads exposed. Keep the rubber cover aside.
6. Cut your OEM metal rod antenna make sure to measure it with the S2000 sleeve.
7. Once you've cut that piece and use the OEM Antenna put epoxy/clear rubber cement and insert it in the S2000 sleeve. Make sure the that a coil on the sleeve is exposed and touching the OEM antenna you've cut so you will get reception. If the coil does not touch remove before the glue dries and redo it. Or else you have ruined your S2000 antenna.
8. Put the rubber cover that goes around the S2000 antenna sleeve and epoxy/rubber cement it as well.
9. Screw on the antenna temporary. Test the antenna reception.
10. Once all the glue has dried up and you know for sure can pick up all the stations you need. Unscrew the antenna get some extra strength thread locker. Screw it down and your antenna will never get stolen. You also have a stronger antenna, better reception, and it won't be flimsy, warp, or bend like your regular S2000 antenna.

Hope this makes sense if you need pics let me know.

9 posts long.

but it isn't funny anymore because mistri beat me to it.

My base threaded piece was very short on my ebay clone but close in length to the stock one on my real s2k

so all that you have to do is push down really hard when you're putting in the s2000 antenna???

is the s2000 antenna the best looking antenna? has anybody tried like the tc antenna or does it just look retarded? sorry if this has been asked in a previous thread.

you dont have to press hard. Mine threaded in very easily, just like the OEM one. If you press too hard youll probably break it.

I did this a few years back works great and it's not flimbsy like your stock S2K rod. If you break it you can always go this method. The short coiled rubber threads suck they are too stuby for the Celica hole. This way makes it a lot harder for people to jack it and rip it off. Rubber cement the entire piece to the stock rod and thread lock it to make it worse for jackers to rip it off and since it's a metal rod it won't snap off if they were to pull it or unscrew. Anyway, here's what I mean more thread to screw in reception is great just make sure you leave the coiled rubber sleeving around the rod and have a piece of it touch the rod before you glue it all down...
