i was thinking of buying some new subs for my car, and i was wondering what is really wrong with the 15 dollar subs that they sell on ebay. They seem to have good specs, electrical and otherwise, and how much different could they actually be then 100 dollar versions. anyone ever try one out and have any ideas on how good/bad they are?

when it comes to buying audio equipment for your car i suggest u dont go the cheap route. just remember this - u get what u pay for and if the deal is to good to be true then its probably not worth it.

The materials they use are cheap, the cone could rip after some good bass.. Then the sub is ruined. btw I have 2 subs for sale, if you interested pm me

Theyre usually paper-cone (bad!) subs, with crappy voice coils. They will die quickly, and even faster if you give them a little too much power (while a good-quality sub would handle it without a problem)

or the specs on them aren't correct, if you look at people that have rockford fostgate amps (i know your asking about subs but kind of the same concept) they're rating are normally under rated

Depends.. The ones at pepboys are pretty sweet. I've found alot of good stuff off discountcaraudio.com Ebay ones arn't always bad. They just wear out quicker.. like 5 months before you blow it, but $15 every 5 months aint bad. I put two 1000wts from pepboys in my beater with a generic amp and it hits damn hard.. no problems yet.. whole setup ran me like $89

i think i might go up to pepboys now and check out what they got, thanks sickceli
and i also agree with you about the 15 dollars every 5 months deal, it still beats dropping 150 and still gives me a lot of flexibility if i, after a few months, feel that i want an upgrade. throwing away 15 dollar speakers is much less painful then even reselling 150 dollar ones.

sorry forgot this point: my first question still stands: has anyone on nc took a gamble (a cheap one too) and decided to buy the ebay subs?, and if so, how r they?
