Well I got pulled over yesterday afternoon (very nice weather in Washington right now) by looking fast... I have no clue where the cop came from, but he pulled me over saying I looked like I was speeding, and he wanted my license, registration and insurance. Well he didn't clock me at anything, but he came back and said don't speed, etc, etc... Gave me a warning, but when he gave me my license and registration, I noticed he didn't give me back my insurance card... By the time I noticed this, the cop already left... Can they do this? Or did he just forget... He actually through my license and registration into my car and left really quick for some reason... I hope they mail it back to me..:ugh:

no, you have the right to complain and make them pay for anything. Plus, that's profiling, and I would press charges. Saying you "looked fast" is profiling, so press charges honestly.

you better file a complaint asap, i agree with the profiling part, that's just not right at all. Damn that's just life tho, what comes around goes around, he/she wil get whats coming to them.

They should profile soccer moms in SUV's on cell phones. My dad got tanked by another one last week. Thats the third time its happened to him, every time its been a lady in an SUV in a cell phone.

They shouldn't stop you for looking fast. He probably had nothing to do. Complaining doesn't hurt though.

There are some cops that will do that. But the next time that happenes ask him if you can see the radar. If he doesnt clock you than he doesnt have a right to pull you over. About the insurance card, you might want to go down to the station and see if they have it. Otherwise just call your ins company and get a new one.

I thought there was a rumor floatin around that you couldn't see his radar or some sheeit because people were trying to clear the gun then deny it or somethin. I think I heard that like a year ago, just a rumor, but can anyone confirm this?

no-it's just that in most states the cop does not have to show you the gun anymore for "safety reasons." it is pure bullsh1t-just one more loophole for a55hole cops to wiggle through.

They don't have to show you the gun anyways. They can actually ticket you if they paced you and their speedo is certified (well at least they could in FL back in 94... You don't forget the fine for 105 in a 60 that quickly....)

The only thing I was wondering, if he gave me a ticket, what would it say? Looked Fast, $100? lol... Thanks for the advice though guys!

LOL I think you should let Toyotas PR dept. know about this. It fits their marketing campain to the "T". I would file a complaint about this BS though. They can't pull you over cause they think you might possibly be speeding just cause you "look" fast.

I was driving through Wyoming one time (*about 4 years ago*) and this green chevy pickup kept tailing me, so I'd speed up and get this *** off my ars. Well, after awhile lights come on in his cab, so I pull over.

ITS A FREAKING GAME WARDEN. We sit for about 10 minutes and an HP pulls up. Says I was going 90-100...

OK MORON I'm driving a pos 83 Mazda GLX 4 door. There is no possible way, but that's what the game warden speedometer clocked me at.
Dip**** probably was quoting the speed he had to go to catch up with me again when he slowed down.

Anyways I ended up getting a $275 ticket .... cuz Wyoming has no points system, but be careful in that state cuz they own out of towners.

In Ca, they do have to show you their radar gun when they pull you over for speeding.

was it a young police officer... usually they have something to prove. in some case, some officers are just jerks. I'm a more lean back type.

Yeah, he was pretty young. The only weird thing I forgot to mention is the cop, when he came back to tell me I was off, he seemed a little upset... I could here the dispatcher saying 203, something something.. .I forget... And he was in a hurry... He threw my license at me and my registration...

Out in BC right now the provincial cops are trying to get the right to pull over young people if they "feel" that they are driving aggressively or dangerously, especially those driving Civics, Acura and other compact imports. And yes the cop in the interview specified YOUNG people, specifically males. When they have done so they will have the right to impound your car for 24 hrs at full cost to you.

It's freakin bull****. Now I hear the head cop in TO wants to do the same. We should get them to pass a damn law stating no women drivers in SUV. I'm a sales manager and am on the road a lot. I drive a minivan for work and anytime I damn near get schmucked, it's always by some bitch on her cellphone in her SUV. Think they own the damn road.

Ok, I'll get off my soapbox now. :)
