i know i really screwed something up on my car and i am just wondering if anyone knows what i blew. ok so all i have actually on my 6spd gts at the moment is my cai, the rest is on my old auto gts waiting to be switched. ok here is the story. i was driving fast and was in 4th and i hit the lift shifted to 5th and it wouldnt go in so i put it back in neutral and into what i thought was 5th but turned out to be 3rd. ok so it redlined for a sec then i put it into neutral and tried for 5th again no luck. i pull over and my car is sounding like ****. i keep hearing a clacking noise kinda a ticking noise from the engine. it is really hard to shift into gears. i can hardly hit 5th or 6th. it is really hard. my clutch feels looser and it has to be pushed to the floor to accomplish anything. also when i am in neutral it feels like i am going to stall. the engine shakes like no other. please help what the hell did do. the best part is this car only has 7800 miles and this is my second day with it. this sucks. thanks in advance.

Game over, man. :wtc: You misshifted. Most likely, some of your valves and pistons got fried. From the sound of it, your clutch is busted, too.
Good news is, Toyota usually covers misshifting under warranty. Also, if you were ever gonna get a stronger clutch or lighter flywheel, Toyota will most likely install them for you free of charge since they'll probably need to be replaced anyway.
Bad news is you'll be without the car for quite some time, and many dealerships don't do such a good job rebuilding engines. Hopefully, they'll just replace the engine.
If I were you, I'd take the CAI out right now so Toyota can't say that it caused the engine damage. They'll do anything to worm their way out of warranty work.

i think they wont care about the cai cause my mom works at the dealership. they said not to worry about aftermarket parts. i am just pissed off and i didnt want to have a new engine put in cause then i ahve to wait like 3000miles to run it good. it blows. hopefully it is something that can easily be fixed. i dont want to have to take off the cai it is a pain to install/uninstall. hopefully they will take it off and put it back on for me. i dont know either way im screwed out of transportation. only 48hrs with the damn thing and i killed it lol

You should only need to take it 1000 miles and one oil change to finish the break-in period. That's what I (and a good percentage of people here) did, and I've gone 47k miles with no engine trouble whatsoever.
Depending on how much was damaged, it should take from a few weeks to a month to repair. Most of the time will be spent waiting for the parts. When I had to get my synchros replaced, it took two weeks (they decided it would be faster to get a whole new tranny than to order parts separately).
If I were you, I'd get that short shifter as soon as you get the car back. It will make the shifter feel much more stiff and solid, allowing you to feel what gear you're putting it into much more clearly. I couldn't even imagine misshifting in my car now with my short shifter.

They told you it blew the FUEL PUMP? oir did they say oil pump? The fuel tank on your car is an electric in tank pump, if they told you over-revvign in any way harmed it they were full of it.
The oil pump is probably what they meant - its pretty common for them to shatter on an over rev.
