I have a 98 Corolla 1zzfe. My redline and rev limiter are both set at 6000 RPM from the factory. I have been reading stories about GTS with rev limiter set at 8350 RPMs... How is this possible when the redline on these engines are set at 7800 RPM? Also, what is the stock Celica GT redline and rev limiter?

Thanks.

Different engine. The GT-S's have the 2ZZ-GE. It's a very rev happy engine. The 00-01 Celica's had a redline (visually at 7800rpm), but realistically they go to around 8200RPM.

You can read about the ZZ engine platform here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_ZZ_engine

Is it this way stock or did you have to modify something to make it rev pass redline at 7800 RPM?

No, it is that way stock. Toyota just added a fuel cut at 8200rpm.

Not necessarily a fuel cut. but a stop of some kind.

GT Limiter is 7K.

The GTS Limiter is 8350 and the redline is 7800. The limiter and redline are two different things.

I know the rev limiter and redline are two different things, but on mine they are both at 6000 RPM. Is this the same on the GT 1zzfe (redline and rev limiter at 7k RPM)?
