Problem: stuck broken exhaust lift bolt. It sits on almost no thread and I will try to drill it out next weekend but I am afraid that if I put pressure on it it will fall into the shaft. If it does, is it safe to leave it there? How do I get it out then? It will not come out with a magnetic pick up.

The rocker shaft may be trying to rotate and wedge it in there, which will make a magnet really hard to get it out cuz its stuck. I wouldnt worry about it pushing through, just from what i've seen, smaay would be most helpful on this situation.

As long as it will not be of any consequence if it falls, I will not bother with it.
The shaft is still aligned, I put the old bolt back on to hold it in place until the weekend. Hopefully it comes out with the drill and I just put the new bolt in.

i wouldnt drill it. i had problems with that. tearing down my engine as i speak and rebuilding it. it'll b fine if its in the rocker shaft. if worse comes to worse ur gonna have to take out the rocker shaft from the driver side taking out some of the other obstacles.

was your lift still engaging or you simply decided to check the bolts? i ask because i'm trying to figure out if intermittent lift and rotated rocker shafts usually go together... thanks...

so are you saying that you can remove the entire rocker shaft from the driver side of the head, once the oil control valve for VVTLi has been removed? is there enough room? even if that's possible, how would you "pull" the shaft out? not sure i understand what you're referring to...

hmmm i would go about it that u wouldnt really need to pull all of it out. wat i would do is get a brass punch (done it with the intake shaft), and knock it thill the first roller rocker falls thru remove that, then put some rags down under the shaft for debris, and work on it from there. if the brass punch doesnt work try a 1/4" extension 3 inch and push it thru. if that doesnt work, take the timing cover off and some pump pullin will b done for that and then knock it thru from the other side with the brass punch toward the passenger side and then if u have to drill b very very cautious, oil pump no like metal shavings. if i had my engine outside i could tell u which method more in detail but its gettin cleansed as we speak. lemme know how it goes
