Anyone know of any job openings in the graphics field near Simi Valley? I know it's a long shot but.........I'm so frustrated. Thought maybe someone could lead me in the right direction.

I can use Quark Xpress, Photoshop, and Illustrator. I also know some flash. What kind of projects would you be interested in? If you give me your e-mail I can send you my resume and some of my projects.

You are in the Valley, check out the companies in the Adult Video Industry (No joke). They do alot of graphic imaging for promos, dvd covers and boxes etc.

Thats like office work in the city, getting laid off, and taking a garbage man job.

Seriously though, I think its sad. I'd rather be unemployed than stoop that low.

I used to have clients in the Adult industry when I was an account rep/prod. assistant for a graphic design company. Once you see it in a business standpoint of that industry that's all you see it as rather then as entertainment. I got to talk to grapic designers and webmasters in the industry and they don't even know who the people are in porn, its just work and alot of the big companies pay good too with benifits.

That may be true, but you tell me this. If you get 2 job offers, one to do porn websites and one to do a website for an automobile maker for example, which would you take? What about if the porn website would earn you more money? Maybe I'm just different, but its not all about the money to me. I do design because I love it. I have a passion for it. And I want to do quality stuff and be recognized for it. (I doubt people even notice the design on a porn site)

Yea I understand there are moral decisions to be made but I'd also have to factor in not only pay but benifits, vacation, 401k, and work load etc. You also have to factor in the economy right now as well since its still crappy. Sometimes you gotta bite the bullet. I agree with you i'd probably go for the more prestige too if you are planning to also pad your portfolio. As for my experience the company i worked with just did it to gain more income for the short term but long term didn't plan to be in that industry at all.

Koober1 was just looking for a job and was just making a suggestion on possible areas to find them.

btw, Ive been goin to calstate LB for about 3 years. I moved from long beach to the irvine/tustin area cuz of work. I was in the design program there, but I took a year off and now I'm not sure if I'm gonna go back to finish.
