Well guys I finally found a brand new 2001 Celica GTS in my area and took delivery last week. I've been spending way too much time driving it though, my gf's a bit pissed but oh well. The manual states that you should break in the motor gently and avoid high speeds. How the hell can a person manage to keep it under 55mph for the first 1000 miles. It's damn near impossible for me since I'm always on the freeway. Next point is that you must keep the revs between 2-4K. That's easier to do however I know I've hit 5-6K on more than one occasion already and so far I'm only at 500m. I'm also trying to vary speeds and rpm but accelerating/decelerating as much as possible. Will straying from these guidelines shorten the longevity of the motor? Or possibly decrease its' performance? How did you guys break your car in?

i got my car 2 weeks ago and i also have around 500 miles on the car... just vary the revs around 4k rpm and just try to stay under 60 and you should be fine

ok ok the car is an NA car so dont trip! its ok to rev it somtimes just dont do it lot i'm a bad example of it but ohwell (i was racing it the second day i got it...) but yeah be nice and no high revs and "just always very your speed for about 3000k miles never go one constant speed for for a long time you need to let your valves set" quote from my mechanic he says its ok to go from 55 about 70 on the freeway just dont stay at 70 go up and down alot VERIY YOUR SPEED!!!
