I don't think its too big of a deal yet.. its not in hawaii news >_<
i think it needs to hit at a 7.0 to get a tsunami

Actually, no. A tsunami can form from a landslide or ice breaking off of a glacier. If a 7.0 where to hit anywhere in the Pacific, God help us.

Wow, cool! That was a mega-tsunami. I've often wondered how far inland a tsunami would travel on Oahu. Judging from the Hilo disaster, there aren't that many places to hide except high-rise buildings. You wouldn't be able to drive fast enough to make it up a mountain. Even Makiki is too close to the shore. Jay, you can come to our neighborhood and cruise there if your building is too low!
There was a digicam recording of mini-avalanche in an Alaskan bay. The "seismic wave" traveled only a few yards to the dock where a tourist boat was swamped and people tossed like salad in to the icy water. No one knew until it hit the boat. Scary stuff. I suggest reading "The Perfect Storm", it has a lot of weather terminology regarding potential wave size and factors.
