Okay here's the story...

I was talkin to one of my friends last nite who have had like 5 supras in his life time. He is a supra fanatic. He gave me a lil test drive in his lightly modified 93 premier edition blue 500hp supra and i fell in love with my dream car again. The one i rode in had 60k miles and he paid 14k for it!!! Well he has a friend that he wants to buy a car for. And here was his deal:

An even trade of my car, as is, for a good condition stock 6spd turbo supra with anything within 60-80k miles, plus he'll add another 2-3000 dollars, depending on condition. No idea what year cause he has to look around. And i'm thinkin for the extra money on top, i could just rebuild the tranny, get a fairly new motor, and some minor mods.

My car: 2001 Blue Celica GT, Injen CAI, TRD exhaust, WW (TRD look alike body kit), C1 copy hoodscoop, painted interior and engine, custom radio kit with an alpine headunit, underbody neons, tanabe 2" drop, 17 tenzo-r, kumho tires, hotchkis chamberlinks, rod millen strut bar, and other minor mods i cant think of.

I admit i don't know that much about supras, except that they are RWD, inline 6, 320-340 stock hp, and a few other minor details. Could someone help me in this direction....

Also if i do this, i won't be in the car club i help started www.Texascelicaclub.com, that i love. But its one of my dream cars. one down two more to go.

Could anyone help me out with what ever else detail i need to make my decision. What to look at on the supra, what to consider, etc. Don't get me wrong i love my celica, and i still do, but if someone put like a viper, modena, or in my case a supra in front of you, what would u consider?

:werd: I'd be all over a deal like that if I had the oppurtunity. The Supra is an amazing car. I'd give my left nut for one.

SH!T... my friend just brought me to my senses. I'm 20 so my insurance will be high, being that a supra is considered a super car (there's like 7 cars in that class and the supra is one of them). I can't transfer a supra to be financed and if i do, most loans will only last 3 yrs tops so i'm lookin at a 500-800 dollar payment. don't look like its going to happen, unless someone has any ideas. please help, i really want it, but don't look like i'll be financially stable to. I mean i make good money and everything but i just dont know if it will be ... whats the word ???

Jeezus...what are you nuts...DO IT!!! FUUUUG!!

Before you go on what your friend says...why don't you CALL around to the insurance companies first...

Don't just throw away an opportunity till you've done some checking FIRST!!!

I'd give both WillyK's nuts for it!!

Le,

Before i got my RSX , i had been hunting for a 6spd, TT MKIV supra. Still today im looking for one and would give up my Type S for it in a heart beat, but there are some things that held me back on buying one that moment. The engines on supras are !@$%ing bad, not because of the power they can produce, but because they last forever. When i was searching , i was shooting for about 50 - 60 k miles, and looking for one that was stock. I have met guys though who had 100K + miles on the car, nonetheless, my friend James has 195,6?? miles ! My 2 cents on the car would be to drive it first, turn everything off, and listen for rattles, squeeks, and any wierd noises. If the car sqeeks, and makes noises during normal driving, then it has without a doubt been ragged on. The problem with this is it ushually leads to internal problems and expensive parts. Second, with high miles , you may be looking at a new clutch, and that **** adds up. Esp. if you wanna buy the stage 3 or stage 4 like me ! Finally , if you really really want the car , and feel like it was taken care of and not a disaster waiting to happen, buy it ! Good things are worth working for, even if it means high insurance for a year.

If it helps I have a friend in Orlando who has a mint super cherry 98 TT in silver. He bought it last year for 36K and has been offered as much as 45K for it, but ever since he got it he's been like " I will NEVER sell this car - I soooo love this car" - It is a truly awsome machine. They are expensive to maintain though - those massive meats dont usually last too much more than 15K unless you are grandma - and they are like 500 a pop.

Like what other people said "You only live ones". Go with the supra and work two jobs, if you really really want it.

Dude, budget yourself, and find a way to get the Supra. I was on that route also, but after calculations, figured out I should wait until maybe year's end.

If you can't decide between a Celica GT and a Supra TT then you don't deserve a Supra TT. ;) :D

redlineGTS- i believe i made the offer first :P

like 2000XYR said...if you can't decide between a celica GT and a TT Supra...you don't deserve it... wake up... the JZA80 is the Car to end all cars....the holy grail of imports...you get the idea...

you pass up on this and you'll regret it...that car is gonna be worth more than your GT any day, and year from now period...drive it...you won't second guess yourself then...

I know i know i know..... i'm really gonna try and do it. I just need to do a lot of budgeting. Plus being that it is going to be my daily driven car, it worries me a little. i put about 20,000 miles a year on my car now. i'm tryin to work a budget out now.
