Anyone ever figure out why the Check Engine Lights are always coming on when you have a CAI. I just reset the ECU and Im good to go, but it gets annoying.
Help me out.

Three things to check out:
1. Make sure all of the hoses are connected and clamps are tight
2. Make sure the MAFS is screwed in tightly. You can also use oil/grease/WD-40 on its rubber seal to make sure it is completely sealed. Any air leak can throw off the MAFS's readings.
3. Clean your MAFS. Dirt and oil from the CAI's filter may have coated its sensors enough to give false readings. There are a few posts on how to do this in the Performance Mods forum.

Hey Jason...if you care about your car, and it's telling you there is a problem, then why ignore it? Chances are it will DEFINITELY cause serious problems if you continue to run your car with a CEL. I've even read on here in a few threads that people had a CEL cause of a lean condition, which caused the valves to be operating at above normal temps and seriously f'd up the car.

I second that, what i dont understand is why not get it checked out. I cant hurt, and mostly if you dont check it out. It more likely will hurt. sometimes your air filter can be dirty, depending on how long you had it on, and cause lean conditions.

check to make sure there isnt any leaks, and clean your MAF with electronics cleaner. if that doesnt get rid of the light, get the code read at eh dealer or an autozone, cuz it may not be just from your CAI..

THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WILL NOT TELL YOU IF YOU CAR IS BURNING LEAN BESIDES THAT FUEL AIR MIXTURE IS REGULATED BY THE COMPUTER AND WILL ADJUST ITSELF WHEN NEW INTAKE IS PUT ON. I AGREE YOU SHOULD HAVE CAR CHECK OUT BUT LIGHT IS A REAL PAIN IN THE ASS. IT WAS ALWAYS ON IN MY CAR. I HOWEVER DON'T CARE ABOUT MY CAR BECUASE TOYOTA HAD TO BUY THE PILE BACK.

You're correct the CEL doesn't specificly mean you are running lean...that is just one scenario which could cause a CEL.....

something I have seen with our cold air intakes is people not putting the lower sensor on... I peak from doing this my self it's a 90 dollar sensor but it has to be there
