I called to bitch at a favorite radio station because I never know which artist, which album, which song, etc. unless they explicitly say something on-air. Even their website, which will play their broadcast, doesn't tell you what they're playing at the time.

They say if you have a new radio in the car alot of them have the information that will come on the display while the song plays.

What's this technology called and how can I get that broadcasted info recorded or seen if my new HU doesn't have that feature?

Thanks again.

It's called RDS http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radio_Data_System
Not all stations broadcast it all the time either. Sometimes they just revert to their call name and slogan.

My Maxima has it standard.

Thanks, I'll review specs to see if it's somehow able to be activated.

Stock units carry this feature, but I've never seen it in aftermarkets...

I've seen this in a bunch of different rental cars ... Pontiac G6 and Chevy Malibu to name a few ...

All the lexus have it built in, nissan and lincoln etc.. If the stock stereo is made by alpine or bose or jbl it will probably have it
