Guys,
I finally got around to properly cleaning my Celica after more than 2 years and 55,000km. And then it rained the next day and hasn't stopped since. It's quite disheartening to put 8 hours into cleaning your car and having it ruined the first time you drive it!!
Anyway, I was quite please with how it came up. Nearly all of the blemishes (fine scratches, bugs, water spots etc..) came out and the finish was so much smoother and shinier, I was pleasantly surprised.
Here is what I used:
1) Wash with Meguiars Soft Wash gel.
2) Use Kitten Mag wheel cleaner on the wheels. (great stuff but makes a real mess of the brake rotors and calipers)
3) Dry with Synthetic Chamois.
4) Vacuum with trusty Wertheim household vacuum cleaner.
5) Remove swirl marks, bugs etc.. using Meguiars paint cleaner.
6) Polish using Meguiars Crystal two step polish.
7) Wax with Mequiars Crystal wax (step two in two step polish)
I was especially impressed with how effective the paint cleaner was at getting bugs and things off the front bar.
Shame I can't control the weather, though!
