I just wanted to say that everyone who installs their kit before its painted and drives around town with their car all mismatched is lame. Thats all...
Does anyone else see this a lot where they live?

I had my kit on unpainted just to see what needs to be modified... I only had it on for a short trip around the block, over a few speed bumps and a few miles on the freeway just to see how it holds up after that I took it off and waited like 2 months to get it painted... I dont think it was that bad... Well if you have it on for a little while its OK... But if you have it on for like months or maybe even a year thats just plain sad... It basically says I had money to buy the kit but now Im so broke I cant even have it painted... So yeah I agree with you that unpainted should not be on for regular driving... It looks dumb...
oh yeah.. a friend of mine had a civic that was white and he had his kit on for like a few years.. it was painted alright, too bad it was spraypaint primer...

i think its good to have it on your car for a while, to see where it flexes, and make sure it wont crack as your body rolls around. but then take it off... i mean cmon. keep it in your trunk

i drove around w/my sideskirts blue when i first got them cuz one was kinda tweaked from being stored in the wrong position...
drove like that for a week... but tha'ts the beauty of urethane, it'll take the shape again :)
so... to negate the lame riceyness, it was functional

I like the people get the unpainted body kit put on, then they primer the rest of the car to match the kit cause that was cheaper than paintin the body kit. I'm from houston, you see that kinda sh!t

The reasons presented may seem valid to the owner concerning driving with an unpainted kit, but I still laugh when I see it, especially long term on the same cars.

OK well this kid at my work has a 96 integra ls... his car is fast, he has cams, p&p, intake, exhaust, header, NOS, etc... but his car looks like @ss. He took the whole interior out. His back window got smashed out so he replaced it with a Lexan window (it's lighter). He just got the buddyclub kit. He put it on unpainted. With the springs he had he couldn't drive around w/o scraping. So he took the bc front end off and put his stock one back on. Then he put his stock springs back in the back. So now he's driving around with stock front end slammed, and jacked up back end w/ unpainted buddy club rear end and side skirts. It's been like this for over a month. I can't help but laugh every time I see him. He's spending money on a clutch, flywheel, and a lsd instead of getting his kit painted. I'm all for performance but I couldn't drive around looking like that, especially if I had the money to get it painted. Besides him I see at least one car a day driving around w/ a unpainted kit.

I had to do some slight modifications to the front of the car when I got my TRD front end. This had to be done before I could have it painted. I installed the carbon blue one and then had to make an appointment to get it painted. So I had to drive around for two weeks with a mismatching front end. I felt a bit foolish, but at least I knew the appointment had been made to go into the shop.

yeah, if you have a urethane body kit, you should drive around with it on for a while so it can mold better to the car, that way when you have it painted later, theres less of a chance of it folding up or peeling.
really.. hmm.. how long of a wait

haha at my school there's this guy who has an ugly green stock del sol. He just recently got a buddyclub front..in red from another car. It's just the front, and its RED. It hasn't been painted yet. And then i turned to get into my car and i saw the red del sol that he must have bought it from, because it had a new front, which was not painted yet, it was a white fiberglass POS! HAHA....its like Christmas time at my school right now with that green and red del sol...

yeah, i guess i'm one of those guys you are referring to. My car is not painted because I've been sanding it down (when I have had time, but even before that, I had my whole kit spraypainted black (and the car is carbon blue). And yes, its because I could not afford paint until now. And to make matters worse I had two unpainted kits before this..(wings west then a trd copy). I didnt feel like wasting money painting until I could paint the entire thing, because I didnt want my car the stock color. But I dont let it bother me when I drive it. If people dont like my car, they dont have to look at it. Here are some old pics of my car ..before the flares were installed/fully molded and my car was sanded down. Feel free to flame me.

its one thing to have ur kit not painted, but its another to admit it when its a thread that's flaming this. u got balls man! oh..and why didn't u just save ur money instead of switching kits and actually get them painted? its called SAVING MONEY.

Yeah, I kinda ruined my stock bumper's lip, then got a wings west kit to cover it up (yeah..i know...*cheap* right?)..a couple of days later destroyed my wings west front lip (i did a bad job putting it on), and then got the trd copy full fiberglass bumper. Right when I got around to putting that on (which fit horribly, by the way), I saw the octane got that. I also took off my wings west sides and rear to put the trd sides on and mold them, and then got the kaminari rear (rather than have the front and sides molded and have the rear stick out). Then, rather than paint the kit that I had I went ahead and molded fender flares.

Hell yeah looks really nice so far... get it painted. IMO if I got a kit I would have the money to paint it too. When I get my kit, I am painting the whole car as well. But I'm not doing it all till I have all the money at once.

man i see two neons and a civic ex run around town with unpainted kits. they look ridiculous! i'm sorry but if you can't afford to get the kit painted don't even buy the damn thing! or if you do, please don't put it on and drive around for days or weeks showing it off. you look stupid and anyone who tells you otherwise is lying to you.

OMG... I had the funniest experience yesterday night... I was picking up my mom from work on 80 I saw this grey integra with white rear and front bumpers I was thinking of this thread... So I pass him right and I get to my moms job so Im at the parking lot waiting for my mom and this girl comes out from no where and says "Thats a nice car"... Im like "huh, oh thanks - with the only biggest smile" (she took me by surprize people ok :D).. So I ask her are you waiting for someone to pick you up and she was like yeah my (A-Hole her words) boyfriend... So we're talking and talking and this Integra with the unpainted front and rear pulls up right in front of my ride... So i just look at him and his ride and give him the only smirk but wait thats not the good part... Remember the chick OK as she goes into her mans car shes like call me sometime "wink" "wink" and I said Ill call you tonight and she said I cant wait... As they are leaving this guys decides to go back in reverse and stare at me so I was like "what?" and he smirks and leaves... What a joke right? Anyway Im not too sure if this reply goes somewhere else but its just funny that I actually had a chnace to encounter those "i have a kit but its unpainted" drivers...

its not really showing it off to simply drive it around. it'd be one thing if I was entering my cars in shows before painting it... but just driving to work and back? I understand your viewpoint; I guess its just different for me actually being in the process of sanding it down at my house in my spare time. Looking at my car with no paint on it at all after all of that work is an accomplishment to me...but thats just my opinion. Nobody has to like my car, or look at it, or ride in it but me. So I guess it doesnt really matter if it bothers someone else...besides, its either I drive this car or no car..
