Has it always been this way? That's extremely odd, being that it kicks hardest in 1st gear, and that you can feel it in 2nd. I should think that if it kicks in on one gear, it should in all, especially in a manual transmission. Being that there can be no electrical/computer related malfunction with the manual trans itself, I should think that if the engine still knows to kick the second cam profile in at 6k (or 6.2), that it wouldn't be able to do it selectively and should be working no matter which gear turns the engine to 6k. I dunno, maybe I'm wrong.

If it really is kicking harder in 2nd gear and you can't feel it in first, take it in to have it looked at. I'm completely lost on the solution.

Btw, do you have any pics of your car with the C-ONE kit on it? I've only been able to pull up a handful from a couple sites. I have one coming in too, and I'd like to see some better pics of it installed on a car stateside. How much did you get it for btw, just so I can compare with my own cost?

yes, it did work in first gear about a month ago. i took it out last night, along with 3 of my friends in there with me. man oh man, it kicked hard...maybe it was saving it up. :D but then the next time i hit it, i didnt feel it as good?? i dont know. i got my c-one kit for $1080 new. i got it off of an ebay auction. when i saw buy it now for $1080.00, i didnt even have to think about it. ill get some pictures up.

Maybe you have 3 heavy ass passengers bogging you second cam profile down :D

Keep and eye on outside temperature and density. Note if you are in a high or low-pressure system. I learned this from once owning a turbo car. But my GTS friggin screams when it gets below 10 degrees... at least a second faster! But a cool, wet, dense morning at 60 degrees will affect the vvtli much more than a dry 70' afternoon. In any case, the hp jump at 6300 is TWENTY FIVE horsepower!!! Can you believe that! Man! Anyways.. you should feel it. Also, in those first two gears, with the revs happening so fast, it can be hard to get the redline just right... and you really need to hit 8 grand to stay on fly. This is because the gearing was set-up to optimize the published 0-60 time, as opposed to overall performance (top of second gear is just over 60 on your car and many competing models). Again, this only affects 1st and 2nd gears. The problem can be really exaggerated by larger overall dia. tires, particularly 1st and 2nd gears, which again the factory left marginal anyway, in terms of the gear ratios. Are your tires a bit larger than stock?

Damn c-one gts, that's a hella good price. I thought I was getting mine for a steal, but that price takes the cake. How much was it shipped to your door?

And thanks man, looking forward to seeing those pics. :)

This is a crock of crap. I wish you guys would quit spouting off this nonsense. The Celica, just like the other cars in it's class only needs one shift to get to 60 mph. If they were so concerned with the published times, why wouldn't they make it so you can shift at the redline and stay above 6k on the 1st to 2nd shift. No one ever says the Type R was built for 0-60 times, yet with its 5-speed transmission, it gets to over 60 mph with just one shift. 2nd tops out about 62-64 mph. Quit spreading baseless crap.

If you not have the throttle open all of the way, it is possible to pass 6000 RPM and not feel much of a change-over.
