Ok, here is how it went down. I was on the highway this morning heading to work in the middle lane and a mustang (I have no clue who was driving that though) was right next to me in the high-speed lane (left lane) and my buddy was behind me in his eclipse gs-t spyder. So we were going at about the same speed because we passed a state trooper that already pulled someone over. After we passed that, my buddy sped up from behind me and past me in the right lane, then he jumped back to the middle in front of me. So he kept going in the middle and then there was another car in front of him, so he went back to the right lane and passed that car and I jumped into the left lane behind the mustang. From the right lane, he popped back into the middle lane and it looked as if he was gonna change all the way over to the left lane but hesitated because of the mustang that was there but wasn

Get a lawyer, sounds like you are in a real mess and need professional help. My guess is the trooper has a lot of witnesses saying that you guys were in and out of traffic racing each other. The adjectives you use to describe your actions would support that theory, "jumped, popped" etc. It would seem your friend had to be on the edge to lose control of a car on the freeway at 80 as you claim. Good luck.

In all honesty-by your own description I inferred that you two were racing, when u say he was trying to get ahead of you-then he was racing you. Best advice was above-get a lawyer and don't say another word to anyone until you do.

Other than that-just learn from this what kind of crap can happen when you goof off traffic.

speed-i wasn;t there, i don;t know what happened, but wanted to make you aware of how your telling of events came across to me. from oldster's post it looks like he took it the same way. THe thing is that since you admitted to going 80 as well, it is going to be tough for you to convince them you were not racig him as well, I understand the distinction you are trying to make that he was racing you but you were not attempting to race him back. If you were doing 65 and said the exact same thing it would probably hold water, but as is I think you have a difficult road ahead.

whatever the case-get that lawyer and good luck. also-good you got scared by it, too. I had to get the sh1t scared out of me before I figured out not to f@ck around in traffic, too.

I don't know how you guys read that but it didn't read like they were racing. It read like his friend was trying to pass him...that's it. That's not racing. And just cause they were speeding doesn't automatically mean they were racing. Goofing off and not being smart, yes, but it didn't read like racing to me.

Did you get tickets for speeding, driving to endanger and racing? If not, I'll bet the cop was trying to scare you with the summons thing. But just in case, spend the $75 or whatever and talk to a lawyer about what the cop said. Better safe than sorry.

Oh and if you did get tickets for all that, definately get a lawyer cause you're about to get bent over.

It did sound like you were racing from your description. By your own admission you were driving way over the speed limit and weaving in and out of traffic. You're lucky your friend didn't get killed. You were both being stupid. In a way, you got the consequences that come with such action. Take the punishment, let it be a lesson to you, don't do it again. Sorry, but it's hard to sympathize with someone who was stupid and got caught or had something bad happen as a result.

no offense man, but why the hell would you tell the cop you were speeding? 80 in a 65? your write up sounds like you were racing. i agree with yakko on this one. if anything you can go to court and tell the judge you never said you were speeding. make something up because if you tell the same story you just told us, then you will be in some trouble. i'm sorry this all happened. i'm glad your friend is ok though. let us know how it goes.
