what's the legal ramifications of having a turbo kit in the state of PA? can a cop pull you over for just having a turbo, or is it like not wearing a seat belt where they can pull u over for speeding and then when they see that you have a turbo kit they can just start throwing the book at u w/ fines?
also, can it pass inspection? or am i gonna have to pay a small time garage guy to just give me an inspection sticker?
also, is it possible to get your insurance company to cover your turbo kit? i know that the insurance payments would go up if they covered it, but have you guys ever attempted to have your kits covered under your car insurance?

Craigslist is a good site to start looking for shops to pass you. Start making some friendly connections man. I don't think aftermarket turbos for our cars are CARB legal, every one has a OFFROAD USE ONLY message on their ad.
If only you could live in NY...my uncle could get me and whoever's good friends with me to pass without a cat :chuckles:.

Don't tell your insurance company you got a turbo, they might drop you or raise your premium like DOUBLE. You will be concidered a high risk driver and your cars actual value might drop because of the mod. Be careful with the insurance people

I've been ok. And I guess you're right. A lot of people type in their sigs say that they're running straight pipe kazumas or going catless, so I didn't think much of it. Not to mention all forced induction (other than nitrous) isn't carb legal or passable for emissions. I guess I'll just leave my resource out of this now...
But yea, so far the 11/18 meet is looking all good for me man, I made damn sure I was off work that day .

It really depends on what county you are in, I am from Jefferson county, and they never cared about my turbo kit when I had it installed because I did not have emmissions. It is very easy to load a map onto an emanage that will pass emissions though, or you can throw a lil money at the guy, or use a friend to pass you.
Most cops in our state, are pretty stupid and do not really know what a turbo kit is and if it is illegal im not sure. If you get around Philidelphia, then maybe, but as long as your car is registered in a county with no emissions you should be fine, not to mention you can make your car look stock with a turbo kit on. Anyway Pm me if you have furth questions.

i can't remember exactly which county i live in, but i do know that i live right on the border between Columbia and Luzerne county, so traveling between the two to find a garage that'll pass me isn't going to be an issue. the only issue is whether or not one of the two counties will actually pass me. you wouldn't happen to know by any chance, would u?

the last time you had your car inspected, did you do emissions? if you did not have too, you will be fine. You are good either way, if you do have to pass emission all you have to do is load a map up that will pass emissions right before testing.
If you are really worried about it go ask your local mechanic

I'm not too sure about the whole emissions thing. i remember right before they started their new emissions testing, everybody freaked out, thinking that nothing will pass emissions, yadda-yadda-yadda, it turned out that they only check the seal on your gas cap for any leaks, or somethin stupid like that. but the next time i go home, i will definately ask around.

I would not worry about it.
