Well, they say that its Variable Vaulve Timing... but isnt it only the ignition that changes? I dont see how the intake and exhaust vaulve could be changed unless you get new cams or sprockets. That was question one. Number two is, is it possible to advance or retard your intake and exhaust timing, say at a car shop when you get a "tune-up"? I think if they just turn the sprockets when the engine/belt is still it could be done. Although I am probably crazy, cus I never heard of anyone doing this before. I was just curious cus I only heard of this with adjustable cam gears, and since no one makes them for our cars I was thinking of a cheap way to get around it.

There is a hydraulic actuator that Toyota uses to actually change the intake camshaft's position relative to the crankshaft so yeah, there is in fact variable valve timing. Look through these forums, there are articles and discussions about it all over.

no problemo... keep your eyes peeled there were many more posted on VVT and specifically on our cars.
