Not quite an appearance mod, but more of one to maintain appearance. ;) I'm sure people with lowered cars and/or lower front bumpers than stock would find this invaluable if their car ever had to be towed. Does anyone have experience with this or know how to accomplish it?

My bumper only has the 2 fenderwells, and 4 top. Thats about as quick release as it gets lol. It only takes me 3min to remove it

Christian are you talking about using zip ties for the fender area, where the fender has two drilled holes and the bumper has two, and the zip ties are positioned on an X formation?

There was an s14 around WA that had a quick release system on his front fascia, side skirts, and rear. That s14 was a d1gp car so when his pieces recieved damage he would be able to unclip them and continue drifting, lol. But yea all taht was holding the bumper to the frame was like 4 quick release clips. I thought it was pretty cool.

Hmm, do you remember what the clips were like? My MR2's bumper is a lot harder to take off than the Celica's, though it's not as easy for the Celica if the underplastics are still on, either.

Hmm.. It was a while ago but if you have a tool box with the weird clip that locks it then that is what it looks like.

Most driting teams use snap on panels held in by hood pins mounted in odd angles. That lets them unsnap the panel and take it off and go.

Yea all my underbody plastics are gone. IIRC with all the stock stuff theres like 7 fasteners holding the bumper on. 6 has been good enough for me for over a year

Hmm, I was trying to find a way to make the install a bit more unnoticeable. The pins and latches could be hidden under the hood , but I'm not sure about doing the sides by the fenders.

try push pins or whatever you call that plastic piece on the center of the bumper where you just push that plastic pin, snaps into place and done.

oh yeah plastic under panel plastic pieces? I drove my front bumper without them and it's fine.

Well, aerodynamics is one of the MR2's weaknesses. Up front, the radiator vents under the car, so it's shoving a lot more air underneath than a normal car. Not to mention the gaping hole in the back that is the engine bay. :chuckles: I'm definitely keeping the front underpanels intact, in one form or another. Just taking out the spare has a noticeable effect on steering feel at higher speeds.

Well you should of mentioned up front that it was for your mr2. What year?

LOL, check out post #5. ;) It's a 93, so it has a larger front lip than previous years, but it still needs more front downforce.

I saw that but you just mentioned the car so I figured you were just commenting on it. I believe we have one at work I can look at
