View Full Version : Recommendations for OBD2 to USB scanner (Windows) & software...
Does anyone have any good recommendations for an OBD-II to USB scanner for Windows, as well as software (pay or free) that will work well with Toyota engines? I'm interested in using it to monitor the engine and to aid in fine tuning my fuel mappings. Also, for anyone who has used them, how exactly are the STFT and LTFT displayed? Are they shown in a table according to RPMs and throttle position or load? I'm not too familiar with this type of software, so any help is much appreciated.

I'm not going to recommend my vendor, so I won't mention them.
The trims aren't tables. They are real-time values that can be graphed or logged. If you want to see the graphs right away, it will plot up to four parameters (including the trims and throttle position) at a time against a time base. If you can wait, you can sample more parameters and export a .CSV file to 123 or something like that. Each sample has a time stamp, and it looks like there are about 3 to 5 samples per second. If you wanted to, you may be able to build a table from the data once it is in the spreadsheet. The ODBII software wouldn't do this.
Looks like you should really have a wideband tied to a logger for what you want to do.

Thanks for your reply. It's given me a better understanding of what I'm getting myself into. I'm just trying to make sure my off boost fuel maps aren't fighting the ECU. As long as I can plot according to RPM vs TPS, I should be fine. All my off boost fueling is handled by RPM/TPS and my in boost fueling is handled by my Greddy MAP sensor.
