PM's are ALL GONE!

I went to check my messages today, and all of my PM's are gone! I had some saved that had really important information, and people I ordered stuff from that I can't even remember their names. What can I do?

ummm talk to larry but i dont know if he can retrieve them for you... hopefully they can. Larry has limited to the amount of pm's we can store in our boxes due to people abusing the function.

I knew that he was doing that, I didn't have that many saved, probably 20 or so, but they were all VERY important. I mean, I had a bunch of info on what LED's I needed to order to change all of my interior lights, and I had PM's from people who I had purchased things from with tracking numbers and addresses to send payments to and such. I don't know what I am going to do now

I ran a script last night that was supposed to delete any private messages that are older then 30 days to clear up the pm database.. I refer you to the first line in regards to Private Messages in the NC.org rules, this is not a storage area.. that is why you have email..

<b>PRIVATE MESSAGES</b> - Please delete your private messages as this service is not meant for you to be storing them, but to read reply and delete. Also when sending them remove the check out of save sent copy or tracking information if you dont wish to keep a copy or track it, Im sure thats where most of these messages
reside.. Im going to check back in 30 days when this announcement ceases to exist and Im going to delete the mailboxes of any users who have more then 5 private messages in them that are already read..

Don't forget to clear your SENT ITEMS...most people overlook that. Check the number at the bottom of the main page, if the number of PM items is still high after you delete your messages, that means the sent items are full.

I do apologize for this inconvenience but unfortunately they are gone and not recoverable..

Well, that just sucks. What is the point of having a PM option? Why not just have a link to everyone's e-mail? And why shouldn't we be able to save some of our pm's, I think that some would be considered important enough to save. I was never aware of this, which in part is my fault because I never read the thread on it I guess. You should send out a mass PM to people covering this policy. I don't read all of the sticky's, as i'm sure most people don't. And I just lost a HELL of a lot of information that I really needed. I just bought a **** load of stuff from some people on this site, and now I have no clue who I bought it from because I had all of the info in PM's. We should have at least gotten a PM warning us that this would be done. I can't be the only one who had important info deleted......

im sure your the only one and as I said before I do apologize for the inconvenience.. but there is a BIG BOLD STICKY at the top of the forums that says NC.org Rules.. I suggest you read it.. If you had, then you wouldnt have this problem now..

btw, there is also a link to use email.. PMs are to ask quick questions and what not, not to store information

Well then I apoligize. I guess I misunderstood the purpose of PM's. I've been a member at the 3G Eclipse site since August, and they don't have rules regarding PM's, and we could use them to store information. So I didn't think it would be any different here. I guess it was my misunderstanding.....
