i got mile's used camcon, supposably ready to connect and use.
as you can see in the pictures its a mess, and i want to know if i need to patch and extend everything all over again.
looks like all he used was black, blue, green, pink, purple, and maybe red.
should i re-connect everything and use all of them?
i guess im trying ot figure out, why he would cut into everything the way he did? was there a reason? :(
i cant get a hold of miles's- hes probably to bussy in his evo9 :bang:

i guess i should reconnect everthing. and what the hell is a datalogit? its not an oem part in our cars right? a lot of install right ups talk about it. to tap in for power,or other things.

datalogit is the linkage you use to load maps from the comp to the pfc
I dont know if you knew this but miles, was a complete tard, thats why he cut it all up.

I deal with electronics on a daily basis and personally from the looks of that, it looks like sh.t. I really have no clue what he was going for there, but personally, what I would do is remove the plug on the harness, cut all new wiring and build a new harness utilizing that plug. It looks like a rats nest and from the looks of the striping, joining, and bending of the wires you can't tell if they are going to have continuity all the way through. They may "look" okay, but unless you ohm them out you won't know for sure. Plus it looks like he used a lot of crimps. Crimps are sh.t. If you are going to join or piggy back wires you need to solder them.
Trust me I have 7+ years working with car stereo installations and 4+ years doing avionic systems repair in the air force. When it comes to electronics I know what I'm saying.
A datalogit (to piggyback off of what blitz said above) is also used to log data from dyno runs and such since the PFC can't datalog on it's own.

cool thanks, i figured it wasnt something oem. so since i dont have that i guess it dont apply to me.

thats dude, ill replae that crappy GREY wire use to extend other cables and Solder the ends instead of those crimps.
ill be sure to solder, since my first gauge i must admit i used crimps for extensions myself. other 4 gauges i will be sure to solder.
and ill just follow this procedure from JEsse.

I wish someone would get this straightened out and post an actual writeup of the install. What I wrote was just conjecture based on the wiring schematic and reading the CAMCON manual. I've never touched one of these in my life.

Want to come down to Peoria and try it? Mine's still in it's box ...

Uhm, I would do the install if you drove up to me. That doesn't sound like a very good deal for me... You'd also have to pay me of course for the install.

It was half a joke and certainly a bit more relaxed than a professional request. I thought you'd want experience at it. I'll get around to it. Let me know if you're truly interested. I would think we might be able to work something out!

I really kind of don't have any interest. I will do installs as side jobs very occassionally, but that's like 2-3 per year. I never plan on owning a CAMCON, so its tough for me to get interested. I only made the sticky because I was bored at work and had already done the whole pinout, so I figured why not figure out the CAMCON install since nobody else seemed like they could do it. I was more hoping that someone would take the ball and run with it.

i will be installing it soon enough. I will be using your pinouts on the 03 as always and the camcon manual also.
and this

Purple - Connector E12, Pin 27 (L) - side going to ECU
Peach - Connector E12, Pin 27 (L) - side going to sensor
hopefully everything works.
all i could do really is take pictures, and point out what the picture is showing. so hope thats enough.

well... I have a 01 gt-s and my camcon is hooked up fine. I even managed to get the correct AF wire (I had two choices).
But Elcelicagts, your 03+ right? Your schematic will be a little different, but shouldn't be much off of what I used.
That harness looks like it went through absolute hell. There was black sheathing all the way from plug to plug on that thing. It looks like miles stripped all of that away and i am not sure what he was trying to do with the wiring from there. You might want to call PE about a new harness (I know they sell an extension cheap, so you could buy that and add the original plug on the end. The wire colors would match, so it would be pretty dummyproof)
I'll take a pic of my connections to the ecu and post it in this thread if its nice enough out this morning when I get home.

I dont want to spend even more money on this, so i decided to work with what i had. its a challenge but solder here and there, some shrink tube. and all was well again.i didnt have to do more than one joint on each wire, and only had to work on 3 wires for now.
the harness is still a good 4-5 feet and should be enough to get the job done. it was also good to experiment with Solder, thanks to ARcher2kGTS :) i will soldering wires for now on. now all i have left is to cover everything with a harness tube or something.

i was cleaning things up on the harnes and noticed the black grounding wire was joined with a grey wire.
and grey didnt ring a bell so i checked install guide, and found out i had extra colored wires to deal with, NOt mentioned on the Install Guide. :AF:
miles add them???? :(

This is where i could use some help from Camcon owners. on the plug to the harness are the wires arranged like on mine.
i saw theres some extra wires there, and i took a picture and did a quick diagram of them.
i probably will ignore these since, they dont apply to the instrutions and carry on with install. but, i want to make sure the right colors are in the right slots on the harness plug. could someone check my diagram with your plug/wires
ill post some pictures of install guide that only shows colors jesse posted. the instrutions are very straight foward, looks very eassy to do, especially using Jesses 2003-05 pinout diagram of oem ecu.

What year is your car? Let me look at the pin outs for the 00-02 and the 03+ as well as the Camcon diagram. I am a little drunk right now but I can still read schematics. So give me a couple minutes, couple hours or a day and I will get back to you.

I checked my camcon plug for you, and I have those three extra wires also. In my original install there was three lines leftover for a vtec install. Those were White, Blue, and Yellow I believe.
Sorry, didn't get you a pic yesterday morning of my ecu side connections. Dead camera batteries, they should be charged up this morning though. Although since I'm an 01, my install will be a little different than yours.
