or... maybe, just maybe, I actually know the guy given that he lives in Tampa and his garage is 5 minutes from my apartment, happened to be over there today to get some work done, and he personally approved each picture, fully aware and pleased that I was going to post them... :faint:
If he didn't want people to see it before he was completed, he wouldn't post ANY pics. These are obviously just more "teasers" of what's to come ;)
In fact, one of the two or three recent sets of pics was also posted by me from the last time I was over there.

The date on my camera isn't accurate. If you check my pics in the WI thread, they are also dated for March and the kit was only installed like two days ago :shrugs:
Actually, that date stamp feature should be turned off anyway -- I hate it. :bang:

Sorry, folks. I'm just the guy lucky enough to see the project up close, take the pictures, and share them with the community. All the big, behind the scenes plans are top secret.
But I think Justin won't mind me telling you this much: Based on my discussion with him today, I can tell you that his Celica will offer some serious competition for the Fensport Celica in terms of power and performance. Plus, while the Fensport Celica looks practically stock, Justin's will be a true one-of-a-kind work of automotive art ;)

The bore is the same between the two, the difference is the stroke. Thus the extra .5 liters.
So sizing shouldnt that different, BUT i cant say from experience, never seen them side by side.

When Justin told me he was thinking about doing this a couple years ago, I thought...."Yeah right, like you're really going to put a 1jz in your Celica".
Now that I see it actually coming together, all I can do is sit here with my jaw on the floor and daydream about how cool this car will be.
Right now the Fensport Celica is my all time favorite, but Justin's car will definitely be my new favorite when it's done.
For those that don't know how beautiful a 1jz can be....

And with a little more polishing....not a 1jz, but you get the idea....

What are you talking about? The Euro spec has no pointy side markers. :crazy2:
I wanted to say, that I doubt it will be competition for the Fensport celi. After seeing the widebody pics, I am sure it won't be. :rimshot:
And the Fensport celi can look stock to a blind person or perhaps someone, who has never ever before in their life seen a 7.gen Celica.
Still, props to the owner, hope it gets done just the way you want it. Keep it posted. :eatpop:

The Fensort Celica has a TRD wing and sides with a C-ONE lip and cf hood -- that's no more flashy or unique than most of the celicas around here...
The Fensport Celica is very impressive in terms of performance, but appearance-wise it is a fairly ordinary Celica -- in many ways the Fensport Celica is the ultimate sleeper. It looks like many 7th gen Celicas on the road, but under the hood, it is like no other out there.
When completed, the widebody Celica will also be very impressive in performance AND it will be like nothing ever seen before in terms of appearance. Moreover, there hasn't been a RWD Celica on the road in about 22 years, let alone one that will perform like this one will!
The Fensport Celica is awesome indeed, but wait until the widebody is completed before you dismiss it so lightly ;)

I was referring to this statement.
With the huge heavy bodykit and the "One Jay-Z", I don't think it will be serious competition in terms of power and performance actually.
As for the stuff I can see on the Fensport and not on my stock Celica, try stronger TRD M-sport shell, roll cage, cf boot with plastic rear screen, cf hood with modified scoop and some sweet locking catches, cf mirrors, Motec digital gauges, Recaro seats, custom suspension with Tein coilovers, Volk Racing wheels, cf engine covers, Momo snap-off steering wheel, Tar.Ox brakes, etc... I could go on, but if all that stuff is "practically stock" then 99% of cars on here are stock. The technical part of the Fensport is a work of automotive art as far as I am concerned, so I will not even go into that.
I wish the best of luck to Justin, once again. I hope he pulls this off.

I remember probably 4 years ago when you're car was all flared and molded dropped all the way to the ground with the tires tucked. You still kept that Blitz look. It's looking great can't wait to see what kind of rollers you're going to put on that bad boy. It's nice seeing veteran Celica owners go wild and crazy. did they just start that project a couple months ago? it seems like this project is going to take a very long time to finish seeing how much custom work has to go into this. I see a lot of problems just fitting that engine into the tiny engine compartment of a zzt chasis and getting that tranny and differential in.

he already said he'd chosen the badging he wants...he was referring to a new chassis code (just for ****s and giggles, the gts's is the zzt231, the 6th gen is the st204, and so on and so forth)...technically the chassis is still the celica's, it's the drivetrain that's changed, so I would go with something like zzt64 (the Celica Supra was the RA64)

Why would anyone claim to have a 1.8 engine when they don't. Also, I'm not sure if that motor has vvti, but I don't think so.
And, yeah, nothing could be less gay than a little green and yellow heart shaped, beginning driver sticker that means abolutely nothing to anyone outside of Japan except for ricers in the US. Thats waaaay cooler than the number of the beast
Anyway, he's badging it as a Celica Supra, and that's what this car would be if it were built by Toyota.

i've got it all covered this was 2 years in planning and about 7 months into the build now. i thought about doing a system but i just dont care any more about loud systems or the flashy fiberglass work. i built my old system and it was beautiful but this car is more race inspired so a big system just wouldn't work

sweet - these preview pics are tantalizing... you should archive everything and post a "making of" thread upon completion of the project

weight reduction was limiting him to one speaker... he didnt want to go the headphones route. lol, i noticed that when i was there, i was like y do u still have one speaker in, he had forgot to take it out and for now while its being worked on it keeping it installed as a in progress momento.

Justin, in keeping in line with the Toyota tradition of engine-chassis code, maybe you should start thinking about JZT instead of ZZT for the new code. If anything the J will also match your name. Heck the JZT could even stand for Justin
JZT-232 maybe? :gap:

Justin,
I've been following your progress on the car. Remember back like 6 years ago when you had just gotten it, slapped on the white konig rims and vinyl lettering? What a transformation, proud of you dude, can't wait to see it finished.
