View Full Version : Other antenna repl. options for eurospec celica?

for all the ppl that checked out my sig lately figured out that i got my new celica today! yipie! (i have no pics yet, sorry)

first thing i notice is that the stock radio antenna isn't where it is supposed to be (meaning: where i thought it would be ...)

it is installed in the middle of the roof, right in front the sunroof! yikes! and not only that! it's one of those long, thin, vibrating, black and ugly antenna ('bout 40-50cm long).

i figured the s2000 antenna-mod wouldn't look nice up there either ...

does anyone have ideas which replacement i could get for this buttugly antenna (take it of and drilling holes at the rear of the car is out of the question ...) i need something that should reside at the exact same location the antenna is now. i was thinking the new bmw-style fishtail-antenna, but that looks to big and looks sort of wierd at the front of the car. any ideas ?

damn u dont llike that antenna??? i love that thing...u wanna trade? hehehe i'll give u my assembly and u give me urs:D well...i dunno ne where else u can put a antenna except the back of the roof like the vw's

Hey man,
You can score a VW antenna for about $37. A very steep price to pay , but it seems that it was almost designed to sit in the middle of a vehicle --- it is longer than the s-2K antenna but also thinner. Just my personal input --- I've got one on my car (regular position) and it looks fine.

hmm, i don't like that thin look. the antenna is always bouncing up and down while driving. i honestly hate that.

i'm looking for some sort of s2k antenna, maybe half the size long that might fit up there ...

I think he's talking about the physical size of the antenna itself not the placement?

exactly. the size and shape of this thing is simply not worthy to be put on a beautiful celica ...

thats mad!!! are all your (US) celicas like that? with the ariel on the rear? all of them here in Ireland are up the front - factory fitted and are the floppy,skinny black ones..

They _are_ a common screw-fitting for quick removal in carwashes (yeah right!) should the mood take you.. but i have to say i prefer a proper whip rather then those stunted rubber things - the signal holds better in the city on pirate stations as i can change the angle it leans at... (try it!)
