could've died. either bad look or good luck, depending how you look at it.

driving on the freeway, no traffic in the morning since UH and schools all out of session already. ive had continuous problems with my front driver side tire losing pressure. the mount mustve messed up on a pot hole a while ago or there was a leak somewhere although i never saw a nail or anything. never bothered to get it fixed cuz i figured the tread was going anyway so when it came time to change em out save money that way. just had to refill the air much more often.

so back to this morning, im going east bound past bishop museum, wheel starts to vibrate a little. and im thinking crap my tire must be getting flat. within seconds the car starts pulling to the left so i know i have a flat, but there's no shoulder on the left side so i figure i gotta cuz across to the right side. this is now by vineyard exit. i know my tire has to be in bad shape by now cuz i can feel it plopping around. i start thinking maybe i can make it to the tesoro since it's right after the first light, i'll just drive slow. so i skipped the little median by the barrel barriers and keep driving off the off-ramp. bad idea. as soon as i get off the freeway i feel it get REAL bad, and now i have a feeling im down to the rim. i know i have to pull over already so i look in my rear view mirror to change lanes to the right and what do i see? my fricken tire rolling to the right across the road onto the sidewalk. i have no idea how it dislodged without me running it over or feeling it pop off cuz like i said it rolled from my driver side toward the right sidewalk, behind my car. anyways these SSR rims are forged luckily, so although i rolled on it for a few feet slowly, there's no visible damage. just the old curb marks, and corrosion by the center caps.

ive seen bad accidents happen from tire blow outs, and this was pretty nuts. im glad i caught it in time and was near the off-ramp, otherwise i could've caused a major accident.

but now i gotta swap out all my rims and put the old gt-s ones on since i cant roll around on a spare. supposed to be xmas shopping dammit. haven't started yet. instead i'll be working on the car after work tonight.
more money on new tires. still gotta buy gifts. car insurance due in january. fricken bills.

okay just checkin! funny...i never did think that maybe those guys driving around with one nice rim in the back and steelies in the front had a blown front tire and they didn't want to change the back. i always thought it was because they could only afford two rims! :gap:

True, BTW what kind of tire were you rolling on anyways? what do you think caused the tire to de-thread? bad camber? manufacture's default (tire)? obviously I know you didn't get a chance to investigate the tire after.... jus curious.

was my own fault. i knew i had low pressure in the tire. i've been dealing with it for a while now. every so often i would refill it. it was a really slow leak.
so that morning it must have already been somewhat flat to begin with, or i hit a pot hole or something. the lips of the wheel cut through the tire. the edges (rings) of the tire are still on the wheel. the main chunk of the tire rolled off the wheel somehow. it was still in one piece so if you looked at it from far away or passed by it at first glance, you'd think it was a good tire still. they were azeni st115 tires. i love them and plan on getting them again. the only problem is munkywurks doesnt bring in falkens anymore. i think ron's might be the only place.
