Painted CF eyelids..dumb or smart?

Hey I know its pretty hard to find trd eyelids nowadays, but has anyone ever thought to just paint seibon cf eyelids to match the color of your car? It may seem dumb, but some people don't like the cf lid's look. Probably a dumb question but was just wondering what yall opinions were on this. Trd replicas are not as good of a fitmnet as seibon cf lids. but don't bash on this. lol merry xmas celi owners!

No doubt you can do it, especially when they end up cheaper than TRD ones.

i have trd replicas and the fitment is not that bad. i paid $75 a long time ago from simon (se168us at ecelica). seems kind of a waste to pay extra for carbon fiber just to paint over it when there are cheaper alternatives...

i just got ebay replica trd lids n there basically made of fiberglass and is flat as hell...also when i even tried to fit it on my headlights ('02) the skinny piece of the lid cracked halfway but not completely. so i think since I have the money Im going to go with buying cf eyelids from speednstylez.com n painiting them...ill post pics of the outcome. lol

I would say don't bother putting them on. BUT if you must insist then IMO you should paint them.

Mine cost about 200 after shipping from krazy kustomz online.com and they look great I'll post picks when i get them on but it is a little to cold up here in Wyoming to do them now cause the tape won't stick right.

there is a group buy for Seibon products going on in the GB forum, check there first. You may get a better deal.

IMO, I wouldn't paint CF. You are paying for the [minimal] weight difference and the looks (which is why I said minimal, since most CF products are just for looks).

just buy a fiberglass set instead of CF it would save on cost of the product

Ya I was just wondering if they were cheaper than the fiberglass or abs plastic ones, then it would be worth it to paint them. Obviously they aren't for wieght saving , as they can only add weight. haha

You got one of the original sets then. They make replica's in ABS plastic for the same price.

ill trade you my silver authentic trd eyelids for your cf seibon ones, i have alot of black and cf accents on my silver car and i thought the seibon ones would look great but i had an opportunity to get trd ones so i snatched them up, now i want the cf ones
