Damnit, I have read this 100 times on here but I cant remember what plugs to use. I know for the GT every one says NGK (I think) IK-16's but whats really the best brand of spark plug to buy? Im not looking for any thing special, I just want quality and long lasting. My car has been running like ass lately, rough idle, when I hit 3,000 RPM it just feels like its bogged down, the last time I used fuel system cleaner it helped a little but now its time to replace the plugs. All of that isnt my main question, I would really like to know if any local auto part stores would sell these plugs? Autozone, Advanced? Thanks a lot.

The IK16 is actually a Denso, not a NGK, the NGK iridium plugs are called Iridium IX. Autozone and Advance should have them. I got my NGKs at Napa.

The NGK plugs and DENSO plugs that are used in the 1zz/2zz engines (obviously plug specific for each engine) are 99.999% identical. They are used 50/50 during production for any of the vehicles that utilize these engines.

I bought some new plugs called Fusions made by Bosch. I guess these are supose to be some of the best plugs out right now. They are a mix of Platinum and Ir I guess. They looked good and are said to be better than standard Ir plugs.

Yeah Denso are $13 a plug. When I went to Autozone to get my plugs they had Denso in but I was looking at the screen with the guy and I seen those Bosch Fusion and there was a side note next to them that said (Better than normal Ir plugs) So I thought I would give those a shot. I put them in yesterday and all I can say is wow. These plugs are amazing. The reason I changed my plugs to start with was my car was bogging at 3500RPM+ (around there). So I plut those plugs in and now my acceleration is awesome. My gas milage is insane, I topped off my tank and Im up to 50 miles and it still says full. I can feel the huge difference in power now. I would suggest any one thinking about getting new plugs give these a shot they arent bad at all. They will run you about $10 a plug $43 for the set but they are well worth it. Check them out.

I'll want to see how they holdup longterm before trying, but that's me cuz I haven't had the best experience with Bosch products so far. That's why you'll find either Denso or NGK in all cars I have ever ownded.

If your car was bogging before then you could have put in a no-name brand and seen a big difference.

I would never use Bosch in my car EVER!! At the garage couple of times when we used Bosch plugs after a couple of thousand miles they start to make the engine misfire. As for your bogging issue at 3500 rpm, that is most likely 94% your MAFS need to be cleaned. Very common problem with the celicas. good luck and uhm.. let us know how the Bosch plugs work out. :D

R the Denso better plugs for the money then the NGK? Will I really notice a difference between the two?

the maf is the little black box on the intake arm if youre gonna clean it just be very carfull not to break it and by the way in a 1000 miles or so check those new plugs for detonation or little white specs on the end of the plugs these motor only use iridium plugs because of the high compression.

MAF - Mass Air Flow Meter is located on the air intake tube. It has 2 very small phillips head screws holding it. I beleive the plug has 5 wires going into it. Buy some CRC Mass Air Flow Cleaner from PepBoys/Autozone/Napa etc. Remove the MAF sensor and spray up into the hole on the sensor a couple of times, let it air dry, install it back in. Before you start your car, remove the MFI fuse inside the fuse box right next to the battery for about 2 mins then start your car for a test drive. The ECU will recalibrate to the new MAF readings.
