Hi all,

I found some 17" rims I want to by on TIRERACK.COM but the "recommended tire size" is 205/45-17. The rims are 17x8", shouldn't they take a WIDER tire such as a 215/45-17 or 225? How does that work, IE can I put a 215 or 225 on there and it won't cause any issues? Or do I HAVE to put the 205's on there? I don't know crap about rims and tires and don't pretend to as you can plainly see lol! Any brutally honest advice is welcome!

P.S - 2000 GTS in RED w/ Racing Strips, should I go with GUNMETAL rims or do you think chrome would look better?

THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dig the name...into mathematics maybe?

I have 215/40-17's scheduled for arrival on Tuesday with 17x8 Flik Lex wheels. My original order was 17x7, but they shipped the wrong offset, so the vendor stated that 17x8 will work. 215's (40/45) with 17x7 or 17x8 are OK.

I'd go with gunmetal, but go with what you like best.

P.S.
