I just bought high heat enamel and started to paint. All you need to do is tape off the stuff that you dont want to paint. Then just spray any kind of high heat enamel spray paint on the pieces. I did 2 coats of primer and 4 coats of Red spray and 2 clear coats.<br>

first i washed my plastic with warm water and soap. then i taped off the stuff i didnt want painted. i used Duplicolor High-Heat with ceramic. it looks pretty good. i bet it would look better with 9 coats and primer and clear coats and all that but i mean it is under the hood; it dosnet have to be perfect for me. ill take some pics and post em

Take the panels out first, I didn't want to deal with overspray.
Degreased them after I removed them from the car.
I sanded mine first.
Degrease again & rinse well, let air dry.
2 coats of high heat primer.
2 coats of high heat engine paint.
2 coats of high heat clear.
Let em dry & put em back in.
The first time I didn't sand & the paint blistered after a few months in our GA heat.
Check my album below.

so how has all of your paint jobs held up?

I primed, painted, and clearcoated last time and it flaked pretty bad, it now looks stupid.

Apparently I did something wrong.

I should probably use some high heat stuff next time?

just a thought, but would it look stupid if i painted the engine plastics red on a spectra blue celica and had red hoses, etc.? The reason I ask is because my injen short ram came in red. I know it would be easy to change the hoses to blue, but would it look better to get a new filter that's blue and change the hoses to blue or leave them red and use red as the 'theme' for the rest of the underhood? I know sounds stupid, but oh well...any responses would be appreciated...

i think it would look pretty good. red and blue look cool together if you do it right. unless you think the hassel is worth all blue....

haha yeah that's what my two friends said just an hour ago when they saw it. I went ahead and did it and the first thing they said was "Can we put a big white star on your back windshield Mr. America?"

Oh well...I like it alright and as long as I like it, it's under the hood and doesn't matter too much. Who cares...

maybe i can get some white wheels haha that would make red white and blue...jk although white wheels have been a thought in the past I think I'll go with some 17" aluminum ones...
