i recently got a 2002 6 spd celica gts and i want to increase low end torque to get a lot quicker off the line and up to where you actually see all 180 stock horses (and of course the ones that are added on)! would this put me line for a supercharger? if so, what kind of investment are we talking about here? and what other mods are necessary to get the best performance out of it?
comments, suggestions?
thanks

in terms of forced induction we're very limited.. you're most likely gonna have to wait a year till they become a bit more widespread...
in terms of other mods... you can help in the air flow (cold air intake, port and polish intake manifold. or even replace, headers are coming out soon, numerous exhaust systems that are already out)
you can play with the drivetrain, like replacing the clutch and the flywheel, or even getting a limited slip differential to keep all the precious power doing work.
you can replace engine components to produce less load by underdriving certain secondary systems... you do this using different pulley systems, crank, and accessory pulleys... Unorthodox racing has just come out with them.
If you wanna get hard core you can also do plenty of head work, including replacing the rocker arms in the cylinders, valves, valve springs, pistons. right now the big topic seems to be cams... we're all trying pressure some companies into making them but as the 2zz is a very advanced engine that's not your avg. conventional metallurgic design theres a bit of uneasiness with new techniques that would have to be developed to make the cams.
you can also drop the weight of the vehicle in order to improve response and make it faster... replace wheels with lighter ones, take out plastics, spare tire, rear seat.
All these are suggestions.. now using all these things i just wrote, go the search function up top and type in the ones that interest you... using that will get you a TON of info on each of the subjects... after reading everything through if you have any mroe questions you can start posting again... for now though try to read as much as possible.. you've got a lot to catch up on.
good luck.

the investment you're looking for would be selling the car and getting another one that has a supercharger available for it :)
