Been using Mobile 1 5w50 fully synthetic since 15,000km. The Castrol Havoline Energy oil ( 5w30) recomended by Toyota is only a semi-synthetic engine oil. My engine is knocking much less with the fully synthetic oil. I have mine changed every 5,000 along with the oil filter as well since I drive it quite hard.

I'm using Penrite 10W 30 oil in my Celica. It seems pretty good, but to be honest, I haven't really noticed any difference to the Castrol Magnatec that Toyota used to use in it (until they left the sump plug out after a service and I swore I would never take it there again).
Do you think that a 5W 50 oil is really necessary for the Celica? I had a look through the owners manual the other day and it seemed that a 10W 30 was the favoured viscocity.
I also change the oil every 5,000km but only change the filter every 10,000km. And I drive it quite hard :)
